This unfortunate situation calls for the writing of a book like this to rescue Christian families from a downward slide. J.O.Y Aladetans book, Christian Marriage and Family Life, addresses a relevant problem, gives useful and pragmatic suggestions, and provides delightful scriptural information to help married and unmarried persons alike in their desire for instruction about Christian families. The Vision for This Book
This book was envisioned for the renewal of the family values intended by God for every society. God is a family God (Rev. 21: 3-4). I prayerfully ask Him to quicken this vision with His Spirit, in Jesus’s name:
1. For the healing of every troubled marriage
2. To reconcile every broken marriage
3. To bring about family values in our societies
4. To raise heavenly kingdom families on earth
Marriage is the crowning work of creation, a foundation for life. God blessed and gave dominion to humankind to rule over the earth. Marriage is God’s invention, so it is sacred. God saw the need for it (Gen. 2: 18) and invented it (Gen. 2: 22-24). Marriage is the first government and the first church on earth. It existed before human culture, tradition, religion, and civilization were developed. It is a platform for perfect communion and fellowship with God and a context where God wants men and women to be like Him. Marriage is a seed of life. When planted in good soil, it grows to produce good fruit. If it is planted on bad soil, it will produce bad seeds, cause defects, and contaminate lives. It is time to celebrate God with our marriages and bring about family values in our societies.
God has existed from eternity past without beginning; everything begins in Him. The Triune God is forever a united and indivisible body. One way to imagine it is that the Father is the body of the Godhead, the Son is the soul of the Godhead, and the Holy Spirit is, not surprisingly, the spirit of the Godhead; they are one indivisible
(Deut. 6:4). Together, they brought the perfect creation into existence (Gen. 1: 1-3); together, they created man in their image and likeness (Gen. 1: 26); together, they brought salvation to mankind. The Father gave the Son (John 3: 16), the Son gave His life, and the Son sent the Holy Spirit as promised by the Father (Acts 2: 1-4). Therefore, God expects all ideal marriages to be united in body, soul, and spirit until the end, to reflect His likeness.
Knowing Jesus, the personification of truth, will set you free. The devil has come to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10: 10). Only the husbands and wives who allow the Good Shepherd to captain their marriages can fly higher and land successfully to the end. Without Jesus Christ, we can do nothing (John 15: 5). Adam recognized that his wife was bone of his bone and flesh of his flesh; hence, he celebrated his marriage. Jesus commands that what God has joined together, let no man put asunder (Matt. 19: 6).
Let us therefore arise to restore to our societies the family values that are gradually fading away.
Foreword
The world today is grappling with the consequences of faulty family values practised by past generations. God cherishes the family unit, but modern civilisation, especially in the West, has gradually defiled the institution of marriage and encouraged divorce and single parenting. This has decreased respect in the home and driven God out of classrooms, removing God’s word from school curricula. The shocking result is a moral vacuum and the breakdown of law and order in many ramifications.
This unfortunate situation calls for the writing of a book like this to rescue Christian families from a downward slide. J.O.Y Aladetan’s book, Christian Marriage and Family Life, addresses a relevant problem, gives useful and pragmatic suggestions, and provides delightful scriptural information to help married and unmarried persons alike in their desire for instruction about Christian families. Preface
The first institution established by God at creation was the marriage institution. Jesus, God incarnate, supported the formation and foundation of the institution when he made it the place of His first miracle, in Cana of Galilee, by making sweet wine from water in pitchers. Jesus added joy, gladness, and happiness to the marriage institution for all who tasted the wine He made available at the wedding ceremony.
This implies that marriage is about togetherness, a union where the couple should reign from its beginning to end, till death do them part. This book is not just an appropriate reminder of the implications of the climbing rate of divorces of marriages performed in churches; it also provides ways for couples to maintain oneness in Christ when they are filled with the Holy Spirit and possess Christ-centred natures, as directed in 1 John 1: 7.
The members of a couple are meant to complement each other and not compete among themselves, no matter what the disparities are in their lives. Once they have made their choice prayerfully, confirmed by the Holy Spirit, they ought to make their marriage survive all periods of conflicts.
The author has deep concerns for the institution of marriage and lists out some potential areas of conflict. If the offered solutions are heeded, divorce may be avoided. The author’s advice comes from both his own marriage experience and his experience as a minister of God. He has joined many couples in holy matrimony, and he provides biblical marriage counselling, guidance and advice.
We therefore recommend this book to all young couples: the ones who are about to be married as well as those whose marriages are challenging and look like they are on the brink of collapse. All married and successful couples are also advised to read this book to strengthen and uphold their marriages through its practical guidance on leading a Christian married life.

Dedication
This book is dedicated to God Most High, in appreciation of His love, for creating man in His own image and likeness, and for His establishment of the marriage institution as the first church and human government on earth. I also dedicate this book to His only begotten Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, who came to this world and performed the miracle of turning water to wine as a symbol of restoring the marriage institution, and who, ultimately, offered Himself as a living sacrifice on the cross at Calvary to redeem the world.
I dedicate this book to the Holy Spirit for imparting the wisdom, knowledge, and understanding for me to write this must-read book. Also, this book is dedicated to Christian families all over the world, who are ‘the co-heirs with the Lord’. This book is dedicated to the memory of my late parents, "Lady and Pa Aladetan, who laid my feet on the path of the cross before they departed this sinful world, and to my family living and yet unborn. Lastly, I dedicate this book to the ministers of God all over the world.
Acknowledgements
I want to thank those who in one way or the other rendered assistance to me in preparation of this book. I commend the Holy Spirit for an impartation of knowledge and wisdom to write this book. My appreciation goes to my family for their support and encouragement. I thank Professor Dapo Asaju, who wrote the foreword, and Pastors Margaret and Joseph Gono for the preface. I also want to thank Brother Wilson Mbakweni and Brother Jones Martins, who proofread and Sister Yinka Esan, who helped in typesetting the first edition. My appreciation goes to friends and well-wishers who contributed financially to the production of this book. I thank Brother Sahr Gandi Capio for encouragement.
I must express my appreciation to my late wife of twenty-seven years, Taiwo Aladetan who taught me confidentiality and perseverance in marriage before she went to rest in the Lord; she was the rock of our marriage—a mother, a sister, a friend, and indeed a wife. May her gentle soul rest in perfect peace. I also acknowledge my beautiful and lovely daughter, Mrs E. Olayinka Aladetan-Akinola, for her dynamism.
Author’s Prayers
As I write this book, I confess every sin that I committed before and during my marriage and the sins of my parents and my ancestors before and during their marriages. I pray that God will forgive me and the past generations in my family for every marital sin committed. Father, cleanse me and my generation with the blood of Jesus Christ so that our sins will not be remembered. Amen.
I also immerse all the readers of this book in the blood of Jesus Christ for total cleansing from the sins of fornication and adultery. They must make it to heaven; none among them will perish with the world. Amen.
I cover the world with the precious blood of Jesus for total cleansing and redemption of souls from the sins of sexual perversion that have plagued society. Father Lord, the world is spiritually blind to your heart for the marriage institution, which you institutionalised for your glory and for the blessing of humanity. God, heal the world of this spiritual sickness and bring sanity into Christian homes, in Jesus’s name, amen.
I pray for God’s guidance for the coming generations that have yet to take the giant step of marriage. Father, give them hearts of true love and give them your Spirit to obey your word. Bind them together with divine love and truth as they take the flesh of their flesh and bone of their bones to the altar for an everlasting covenant marriage, in Jesus’s name, amen.
Father Lord, let your name be glorified in the lives of the readers of this book. I pray that their descendants will be established as a source of eternal glory; little among them will become thousands, a mighty and powerful nation. Their marriages will be established with love, truth, peace, and the joy of the Lord will reign in their hearts forever, in Jesus’s name, amen.

Christian Marriage and Family Life
This book, Christian Marriage and Family Life, is a blessing to the body of Christ and a guide for anyone who wants to fulfil God’s purpose for marriage and family. It is my prayer that the Lord will make it a huge success, in Jesus’s name.

As a member of the C and S fold, I believe a person can only be bold enough to write such a book in such detail if the person is walking with God. As a person yet to be married, I smiled happily whilst reading this book, as it was to me just a reminder of how my marriage life will become a very successful one, in Jesus’s name.
I appreciated the way you emphasised to those that have sinned along the way in their marriage life that hope is not lost; they can repent, ask for forgiveness, and then go and sin no more.
It was just amazing how you ended the book with a number of prayer points for married and unmarried readers alike. God bless you, sir.
