About this ebook
Yayo
Yayo is the author of this book and he lives in rural Norfolk with his family, Juli and Darci. He was constantly requested for stories by Darci, and one day she set him the challenge of compiling some of these stories into a book. The rest is history as they say, for now any spare minute is taken up by this all consuming passion for writing. Even during their summer holiday, Yayo is a familiar figure amongst the paperback readers and sun worshippers of Alicante, as he sits on the beach, or by the pool, with his reporter's pad churning out the pages. Later in the day he can be seen enjoying the critique of Juli and Darci as they listen to a read through over a paella and a glass Rioja. He says that as long as the ideas keep coming, then the pages will continue to flow.

Chapter One
31324.pngGrace was enjoying her best ever summer holidays from school, and she decided that she must be the luckiest eight year old in the world. Not only did she have some great times playing with her friend Molly, but she had also enjoyed a memorable trip with Pop, her lovely old grandpa. They had travelled on an old fashioned train that was pulled by a magnificent steam locomotive, which was named the Prince of Iceland. During this trip, Pop had told Grace the story of how he had come by his old pocket watch, or lucky token as he liked to call it. For Grace, the baffling part of this story was that everything seemed so real, she was convinced that she had travelled back in time, and that she had actually taken part in the tale. Of course this could not have happened, she knew that. Or could it? That was the question that constantly filled Grace’s mind, but she was none the wiser, despite her never ending questions to Pop about anything, and everything, to do with the olden days.
An old quotation that she had recently heard gave her a glimmer of hope that things might happen again, ‘Sometimes Strange Things Happen That Cannot Always Be Explained.’
And that is exactly what did happen… .
As the weeks rolled by, it was soon approaching the end of August, and Grace was spending the afternoon helping Pop tend his allotment. They were both enjoying a short break from their chores and sitting in the shade, just enjoying a quiet moment together. Grace was thinking to herself how immaculate all of the plots were kept. Everything was planted in neat straight rows and there was greenery everywhere. No weed dared show itself, and if one were foolish enough to do so, it would immediately be pounced on and removed to the compost heap. However, the garden sheds were something else, they were an absolute spectacle. It seemed that any old piece of scrap wood or corrugated iron could be used to patch them up, the more the better. It was like there was an unwritten rule stating, No New Sheds Permitted. Pop had often used the expression, ‘waste not, want not’ as he repaired his own shed. However, the overall scene of well repaired sheds and tidy rows of weed free crops was a constant source of mystery to Grace. Or more to the point, the mystery was how they found the time to keep their allotments so
