It may be hard to comprehend, but there was a time when television wasn’t a fixture in every household and entertainment was something created, not simply observed. In those days, the ability to bring stories to life was a great asset, and anyone who possessed that skill was a welcome part of any gathering. A good storyteller didn’t have to have an extraordinary life, just the ability to make the ordinary sound extraordinary. It was my good fortune to not only know a great storyteller but to have one living in the same house as me. He was my father.
