Paws Goes to the Library

"Paws Goes to the Library" is a children's story about a dog who was born with GYNORMOUS paws. He goes to the library to research how he can get his paws to shrink. He wants them to like his other doggie friends paws. As he is searching for a book he stumbles across a little boy struggling to read. The boy and dog become fast friends. The little boy ends up reading to the dog weekly and resting his head on his big furry paws! As word spreads about this new friendship, the other kids in town decide they want to visit the library and read to a furry pet too!
The storyline is based on an actual library reading program called Paws. Trained dogs and their handlers visit the library and children spend time reading to the dog.
The children gain confidence in their reading skills and actually love to read to a dog who is non judgmental. The dogs just want to curl up and listen to a little voice read to them and the kids have shown remarkable improvement in their reading skills as a result!
The book has illustrations and also real life photos of children reading to dogs at the Pleasanton Library in Pleasanton, California.

Author and Emmy award winning television news anchor and reporter was inspired to write "Paws Goes To The Library" after covering a news story on the Paws library reading program at the Pleasanton library. When she saw children reading to trained dogs in the library she immediately thought, "The Paws program needs a book!" A native of the area, Juliette enjoys writing children's books about local landmarks and programs for children. She wrote "The Little Light Shines Bright", "The Train of Lights", and her involvement with Special Olypics inspired her to write "'Im Special Because I Smile". Her three children encourage her to keep writing and many times they help her with the storyline to make it fun to young readers ! Juliette visits many classrooms throughout the school year to read her books and teach kids how to become an author.
