    Preface

Motivation is the beginning point to all growth and success in every area and discipline of life. Throughout history the words of great leaders and achievers have inspired, comforted, persuaded, and motivated us.

Often we find ourselves in bad situations and feel like giving up. It is at such times that we need to energise ourselves with inspirational thoughts. When you have the inspiration, you will find a way to achieve your goal. Analytical, Motivational, and Insightful Quotes for Achieving Success reminds you of the benefit you receive each time you read a quote. They will help you move ahead and deal with your problems pragmatically.

I love quotations because it is a joy to find thoughts one might have, beautifully expressed with much authority, by someone recognisably wiser than oneself. Success lessons can be learned by extracting the lessons of great men and women and applying them to our own lives. The wisdom of the wise and the experience of ages may be preserved by quotations. This book is a guide to reflecting and understanding the wisdom of the authors of the various quotes. It is my belief that by thinking and extracting the lessons from the quotes by these great philosophers, and applying them to our own lives, they can make monumental impacts on our lives. This would then aid us to catapult our success and parallel the successes of these great authors.

I like the words of George S. Clason in his book The Richest Man in Babylon: When youth comes to age for advice, he receives the wisdom of years. But too often does youth think that age knows only the wisdom of days that are gone, and therefore profits not… The sun that shines today is the sun that shone when thy father was born, and will still be shining when thy last grandchild shall pass into the darkness. The thoughts of youth are bright lights that shine forth like the meteors that oft make brilliant the sky, but the wisdom of age is like fixed stars that shine so unchanged that the sailor may depend upon them to steer his course.

The principles and lessons behind the successes and achievements of the great men and women that authored these quotes are worth reflecting on in our daily lives. These principles and lessons would propel us to achieve greatness in our chosen careers, as they no doubt did for the authors. By reflecting on them, along with our personal affirmations, we feel focussed, motivated and primed for success. When you find the greatest success in the world, you also find the force behind it that got the one who succeeded there; the more successful the person, the larger the force. Every day you grow your success mastery through people, books, ideas, and information and now analytical, motivational, and Insightful quotes. When you gather enough ideas and inspiration, you can’t help but succeed!

This book will keep your thinking sharp. As the author of Analytical Motivational and Insightful Quotes for Achieving Success, I believe that there is nothing new under the sun, and that every quote has an underlying lesson; hence, the efforts based on inspiration and research, I have systematically noted the keywords, and analysed the underlying lessons behind the quotes of our great heroes, both dead and alive. For those that are dead, may their souls rest in peace, amen.

    Franklin A. Ohiozebau

    A

    Ability

    1.   It is what a man thinks of himself that really determines his faith.

~ Henry David Thoreau (American Essayist, Poet, and Philosopher)

    Lesson

You are the only person on earth who can use your ability. Once you have the belief that you can do it, you will surely acquire the capacity to do it, even if you may not have it at the beginning. Success is developing any skill requires, trusting in your ability that should never be allowed to waver. You can stand tall no matter how small you may be.

    Accomplishment

    2.   Instead of worrying about what people say of you, why not spend time trying to accomplish something they will admire.

~ Dale Carnegie (Author and Trainer in Public Speaking)

    Lesson

In life, people will always talk about you no matter what you do. My advice to you, therefore, is to remain focussed and do that which pleases your mind and makes you happy. And they will in turn admire your guts and prowess. To achieve great things, we must not only act, but also dream; not only plan, but also believe in our ability.

    3.   Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together.

    ~ Vincent Van Gogh (Artist)

    Lesson

The journey of 1500 kilometres begins with one step. It has been said that little drops of water make a mighty ocean. When you embark on a task, don’t consider how long it’s going to take to be accomplished, rather pat yourself on the shoulder for the steps you have taken and carry on. You will always be remembered for what you have done, and not what others do for you. It is how you deal with failure that determines how you achieve success.

    Accuracy

    4.   Fast is fine, but accuracy is everything.

    ~ Wyatt Earp (Author)

    Lesson

We live in a very fast-paced world. Everything is needed now. I suppose there is a market for fast, and there will be some who are rewarded handsomely for it, but most success stories revolve around quality rather than speed. Someone may be doing it faster, but the successful do it better. The first to look around may be attracted to the quickest; but when people realise there is lesser quality there, they will look for, and stay with, the better quality from then on. Is there something you have been pushing to get done at the expense of quality? Take some time to slow down, go over it again, improve the quality and readjust your schedule. Build something strong that lasts, not something you can build fast that dies out soon thereafter.

    Achievement

    5.   Achievers continue believing in themselves and refuse to consider themselves as failures.

    ~ John C. Maxwell (Author)

    Lesson

Achievers reject rejection. Do not base your self-worth on your performance. Cultivate your self-image on your internal character traits. When you fail, see it as a momentary event, not a lifelong epidemic. Do not let a single incident colour your view of yourself. The greater the feat you desire to achieve, the greater the mental preparation required to overcoming obstacles and persevering over the long haul. It takes time, effort, and ability to overcome setbacks. But focus on what you can do, not on what you cannot. If a weakness is a matter of character, it needs much attention. Focus on it until you shore it up. If your strategy is not working, find alternative means to get to where you want to be. Take time to assess the outcome of your actions. If the outcome is what you want, figure out what you did right. If it is not, figure out what you did wrong so you do not do it again.

    6.   Only those who risk going too far can possibly know how far one can go.

    ~ T.S. Elliot (Philosopher)

    Lesson

Studies on high achievers have shown that no matter how different their personalities, work habits, occupations, or gender, the people who accomplish great things in life have visualised and expected success all along. They’ve had the ability to vividly picture their achievements and to reassure themselves in the face of long odds that they would come through.

You cannot give what you don’t have. You cannot tell of the experience you’ve not had. Life is an adventure; it is often interesting to explore novel things. The achievement of your goal is assured the moment you commit yourself. We acquire strength in what we overcome.

    Action

    7.   It’s not knowing what to do; it’s doing what you know.

~ Anthony Robbins (Authority on Leadership Psychology)

    Lesson

When it comes to being successful and doubling our income, it is all in our heads. We already know the goals, the hard work, and the sacrifices that must occur first. The problem is that most of us know what to do, because it is already in our head, but we have not committed it to heart. It is only when we put it in our heart and
