About this ebook

Humans I guess even animals generally dont like being told what to do or how to do it; for the human, even by God. Everyone wants to go his own way and do his own thing, because it feels good and above all free.

In a sex saturated world where even an ad for takeout chicken, can feature a beautiful girl and have the caption We like chicks with big thighs, its almost impossible to get away from sex in one form or another. Can a God of another millennium and his ways be relevant to us today? Does he have anything to say that matters to this generation?

Life has enough gloom and doom on its own without another lecture. We need to really get it or the lectures just may not do it. Once we get it, hopefully we will overcome our base nature and will successfully run the race.

Do it Right will take you on a journey that will delight you, make you laugh, enable you to THINK and above all to Do it Right.

    DEDICATION

I thank my wife Amelia for loving me and standing by me through some strange times. I thank her for her strength and perseverance, and for the uncountable things she does for the boys and I every single day.

I thank my boys Emma, Paul and Enock for their innocent, unconditional and total love for me. They love almost as well as God does and sometimes make me feel like I don’t deserve it.

I thank my parents who brought me up and have been there for me in so many ways.

I dedicate this book to Amelia, my wife without whom none of this would have been possible and with whom a shared life has taught me all the things I wrote in this book.

    FORWARD

In the beginning God created them male and female; all the animals and birds, both for companionship and for procreation. They were to multiply and fill the world and they did, with over seven billion people and God knows how many birds and animals. Birds and animals however were not the apple of God’s eye, nor were they created as moral, thinking beings meant for fellowship with God; that position was for Adam.

For Adam however, no suitable helper was found so the Lord God caused him to fall into a deep, deep sleep. While he was sleeping, God took one of his ribs and closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib and brought her to Adam. To some that may sound like a children’s fairy tale, but it is actually an account of how the Lord God started the concept of marriage; a union for life between one man and one woman.

I attended a short course for prosecuting attorneys and defense lawyers at a major University in Chicago in the summer of 2008. The presenters were all recognized experts in their various fields. One thing that really struck me, is that they referred to some of the expert opinions or gospel truths of years past and said that those gospel truths, some of which had been used to convict people were not true. The one that struck me the most, was the arson expert who described different arson investigative techniques and analysis that had with time been found to be erroneous.

Man’s truth changes with time, circumstances, culture, etc. God’s truths have never changed; he is the same yesterday, today and forever. God’s justice still demands that an adulterer be stoned to death, but thank God that Jesus bore the punishment of death on behalf of the adulterer. God’s righteous requirements have not changed, but the punishment for infringement was placed on Christ. Do not be swayed by the lies of men and their master, sexual liberation and freedom is the wrong way. It can be deceptively and strongly attractive (even to me), yet always ends in sadness and regret. It’s way leads to the grave in every way. There is one way, and it is the way of "the way the truth and the life".

    PASSION

God created us human beings as passionate beings, it’s just the way it is and we cannot run away from it. Men were created as petrol engines that ignite quicker, burn quicker and go faster. Women are diesel engines in most cases, which is just the opposite. Passion does not make us ungodly, on the contrary it is God who put it in us for good but the devil has used it for destruction. Passion on its own is strong enough, but the devil added a stronger inflammable substance called lust. That’s like mixing petrol and aviation fuel; it gives rise to a lethal mix. Paul referred to passion in 1 Corinthians 7 by saying that if anyone is burning with passion, they should marry. It is in this burning, that a lot of the problems in this world originate.

I watched a herd of Bison on the National Geographic channel and was amazed at what they go through to mate. Two HUGE male Bison face each other and start to back up until they are about thirty meters from each other. They then charge each other and have this huge collision of heads and horns. They back up again and do it over and over until one gives up and runs away, probably with a concussion. The force with which they ram each other would instantly kill a human. I would not be surprised if the loser Bison went off and died somewhere; all that just to have sex. The winning Bison gets the right to mate with the herd or mini herd exclusively.

What the Bison do is replicated by many other animals in different ways, but generally there is a battle for the right to mate. The testosterone that drives these creatures is so strong; it almost appears to drive them crazy when they don’t have a release for it. Bachelor Elephants have been known to try and mount female Rhinos and have broken the lady Rhino’s backs in the process. They were not designed to carry the tonnage of an Elephant.

I have heard many ladies say that men have a problem of uncontrolled passion, of desiring more than one woman. It is true; a natural man like a Bison can mate with a whole herd (harem) (1Kings 11). Men are visually activated beings and when they see something they like, they want it. A natural man can look at a different woman every day, or sometimes multiple women in one day and desire them all. It can actually get to a point where, because there are so many desirable women in this world, it does not even seem worth it to allow the chain of thoughts to develop. If you did that every time you saw a desirable woman, you would never have time to do anything else. Above all else, it is sin.

The natural man is therefore, in this regard, no different from the bull Bison. The difference between them is that while humans are tripartite beings, bull Bison and other animals are dual beings. We are spirits, we have a soul and we live in a body, while animals simply have a body and a soul. The soul is the will, mind and emotions. Bison have a will and can refuse to do what other Bison direct them to do. For example when the Alpha male directs a lesser male to leave the herd and not dare try to mate, the lesser male by an act of it’s will decides NO, I am going to head butt this guy. Who does he think he is anyway taking all the girls in the herd? After that decision of it’s will, they charge each other and the winner takes all. Lionesses, Tigresses and Leopards don’t just mate with any male; by an act of their will, they sometimes decline and this rejection can be quite violent. They are said to reject weak males, as they want to have strong and healthy cubs from the best males available.

The Bison, like all other animals, also has a mind because it can think. Animals know when the grass in their area is too little to sustain them and they move. They do not sit there and starve to death; they migrate to areas where there is more pasture. Herbivorous animals warn each other when a predator is around by sounding an alarm. My family and I were able, with the help of a guide, to locate a family of Lions in a national park simply by observing the tense behavior of the grass eaters. The Lions were hidden in shrubs and could not be seen.

Antelopes know that Crocodiles are lurking below the surface of the rivers that they drink from, and they drink carefully. I saw a Cat run up a tree while being chased by a Dog; it went up the tree, stopped on a branch and looked down. It’s thought patterns made it know that that Dog could not follow it up the tree. Even the dumb looking Buffalo has the intelligence to know that it can’t defeat a Lion on its own; they tend to fight Lions as a herd. Watching Lionesses and other Cat predator’s hunt, is to watch a well planned and thought out activity. It includes using tall golden grass as camouflage, and creeping up on the prey before making a sudden dash for the kill.

Without a doubt animals have emotions. If you have any doubts about that, try standing in front of an angry Bison. We grew up with several Dogs, and over the years I got to know their temperaments and emotional disposition. One Dog just could not stand being looked at and would look away when stared at. Another would growl at you if you stared at it for too long. If you pushed your luck, it would try to bite you. I used to love doing that when it was behind a barrier, I would just stare at it and make it so mad. I have seen happy cheerful Dogs, full of life and I have seen sad Dogs looking like they are depressed. A certain word, used to categorize certain women and to insult others, actually means a female Dog. A friend had a female Dog called Bella, most foul tempered aggressive animal you ever saw. I am told that the original, derogatory and highly unchristian use of that term to refer to some women, was because they were nasty like Bella.

Human beings were created in the image of God (Genesis 1:26), and therefore we are spirits. It is written that God is a Spirit (John 4:24). We are spirits and we have a soul and we live in a body. That spiritual part of us sets us apart from the animals. I believe that it is our spirit man that causes our wills, minds and emotions to be superior to those of animals. That is certainly true of the born again spirit bringing about godliness, but I guess in some way, it is true of the non-born again spirit. I guess the rational decisions and thinking (for those who do), and the controlled emotions (for the sane ones among us) flow from the spirit man in a human being into their wills, minds and emotions.

Men have killed each other over women and vice versa over the centuries. One woman called Hellen was taken by a prince of Troy, and caused a war between the Greeks and Trojans that lasted a really long time. Thousands of people were killed in that most senseless of wars; at times we are even dumber than the Bison. We must however remember that the Greeks and the Trojans worshipped Apollo the Sun god, Zeus, Aphrodite, name it; they had a god for every purpose, and these gods are simply offshoots of Satan. They are evil and their spiritual nature became the nature of those who worshipped them. Shaka Zulu, the famous King of the Zulu, was a cruelly brutal man, who used to have a sharpened wooden pole rammed through the rectums of his enemies. This pole was then raised like a crucifixion and the victim was left to die an agonizing death. Like the evil Romans who crucified people, he worshipped evil, sadistic gods.

We who worship Jehovah, the creator of the universe, should be filled with the Holy Spirit and as such flow in the fruit of the spirit. We should be full of love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control (Galatians 5:22-23). When we partake of the Spirit of God and flow in that fruit, then the Bison nature stays dead. This comes from reading and meditating on the word of God (Joshua 1 and Romans 12), listening to good teaching (Romans 10:17) and remaining in fellowship with other brethren (Hebrews 10:25).

I have personally found that when I spend time with God, in his word and in the things of God, the Bison remains dead. When you are born again, the old man dies spiritually. The old man died because we were crucified with Christ and it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives within us (Galatians 2:20). My Bison died spiritually on the 19th of July 2001, but because I live in this body he keeps trying to resurrect.

The devil knows fully well that in keeping us busy with other things, we grow weak spiritually. He is the prince of the power of the air (Ephesians 2:2), and the air around us is saturated with every kind of thing that can keep us weak spiritually and cause us to fall into sinful ways. We live in this fallen world and so can be more natural than spiritual; I am as guilty of this as the next man or woman. It takes a tremendous amount of discipline and consistency, to walk and stay more spiritual than natural. That is a
