Lloyd J. Vogan

Lloyd J. Vogan is a retired police officer. During his career he has investigated all sorts of crimes and each one has a report written about it, which is nothing more than a story about the incident. Introduction

    YOU HAVE DECISIONS AND CHOICES

    Throughout history people have had to make decisions and choices. Our lives are full of decisions to make and it starts every morning when we awake. And we always try to decide on the right choice. Most of the time the choices we need to make and simple and routine. Sometimes even repetitive. Stuff like what to wear, what to eat, where to go today and so on. These decisions have a short time consequence and can even be altered or cancelled without any long lasting results.

    Sometimes though, we have to make choices that are a little more serious and require a much more in depth consideration because the results can be very long lasting. Many times making the right decision is crucial and if made incorrectly, can be very difficult or expensive to change. Some examples would be where you want to live, or what vehicle you should purchase, or what kind of career you would want. Or may be it will be who to marry. Yikes, don’t go with a decision there too quickly or without a lot of thought.

    Some decisions about what to choose can be very difficult to make correctly and in our best interests. There may be a lot of Pros and Cons to consider. And if that isn’t complicated enough, on top of that, there can be outside influences trying to sway your decision. Often these outside influences attempt to affect your decision or choice in their best interest or agenda and not yours. Not only is this tactic a scary con game, but you are the one who pays the price form choosing badly. An example of this might be a large investment of some kind. Or it may be a certain life style.

    Or it could even be that your decision may make the difference between life and death for you.

    However, there is one choice that every single human being in history has had to decide, or will have to decide at some point, and this includes you. And there are only two choices; accept or reject.

    If you make the wrong decision, there will be no excuses, no changing your mind. You will not be able to blame someone else as your choice will be made of your own free will. And you will be asked a question. A question that starts with, What have you done with……? You will most assuredly be required to answer this question.

    Sadly, multitudes of people have and will trivialize the importance of making the right choice in answer to this question. Many will try to ignore it and not make a decision; however, there is no sitting on the fence with this one. No decision is a decision in itself.

    That is what this book is all about. It presents the facts in a straight forward, easy to understand manner that does not try to influence your choice or try to sell you on an idea. In this book you will learn the truth, so "Ready or Not", here it is. All I ask is, whether you agree or disagree along the way, that you read this book all the way through. Then; choose wisely.

    PART ONE

    READY OR NOT;

    HERE I COME

    Who Are You; Really?

    The Moment After You Die

    READY OR NOT;

    HERE I COME……..

    Most of us know this very familiar phrase from our childhood. What kid has not played hide and seek with a friend or a relative? Or played it with a group of other kids at a picnic or family gathering. One person, who is it hides their eyes and counts to a hundred then attempts to find those who have hidden themselves. The goal of those hiding is not to be found, which means locating a secure place where the one looking will not find them. I guess that those ones would be described as, ready.

    But remember the ones who were not able to find a good hiding place before the seeker started looking for the hidden ones? If you were standing out in the open somewhere, unable to find a good hiding place, then I suppose that you could accurately be described as, not ready. When the seeker loudly called out, Ready or not, here I come, and you were not ready, a wave of panic and fear would sweep over you as you desperately searched for a last minute hiding place. But to no avail, you were almost immediately caught. However, the ones with a good secure hiding place had confidence. They knew that they were safe.

    Isn’t it amazing how, as children playing this game, we learned to experience these emotions of either confidence and safety, or panic and fear. However, this familiar phrase, Ready or not here I come, does not really stop at childhood. It’s as if this kid’s game somehow prepares us for our adulthood when the application of this phrase repeats itself many times over in different situations of our lives. Events in our lives that have an absolute impending starting point that is unchangeable. You know the ones that are described as, Not if, but when. And most often, unlike the hide and seek game where we know the search is going to start soon, events that are coming ready or not do not always give the present appearance or slightest hint that anything is going to happen at all. We have to get prepared based solely on warnings or advice given ahead of time.

    LET’S LOOK AT SOME EXAMPLES.

    It’s a beautiful day, the sun is shining and the ocean is calm. The beach looks so inviting. It is a warm beautiful day. In fact, it has been this way all summer long. Why would you think it would be any different tomorrow or the rest of the week? But wait! What are those people doing? They are boarding up windows on most of the buildings along the beach. And even inland for several blocks. Why? Because there is a hurricane warning in effect. There is also an evacuation order. The forecast is for heavy rain and very high speed winds. Winds that will most certainly damage structures and break windows. But it actually doesn’t look too bad right now. Is a storm really coming? Well, believe it or not, yes it is coming! And; Ready or not here it comes. Those who prepare are ready. Those who are not prepared will undoubtedly experience the panic and fear that will accompany the high winds, driving rain and the sound of breaking glass and flying objects. Too late, here it is and if you decided to ignore all warnings and were not ready, you’re in trouble.

    My best friend and I would sometimes travel to visit his relatives who lived in another city not far from our town. This day trip required us to take a ferry boat along the way. The ferry left every two hours, precisely. We intended to catch the 7 am ferry. It required getting an early start because the trip to catch the ferry
