The Time Machine - Arlind Malat
CHAPTER 1
It was a hot, sunny day in London as Bob King was packing up his stuff ready to move houses. Bob was thirteen years old, and he lived in London with his mum. He was as tall as a tree. He had brown hair and black eyes; he was a very clever boy with a mind of fantasy. Bob was moving to a different place in London near his granddad, Robert King.
Go and say goodbye to all your friends,
said Mum. Mum was a very kind person and a great cook. She had blonde hair and brown eyes.
Bob said goodbye to everyone, including his best friend Max. They had been friends for a very long time. They had done so much together. They had a group called the VIPs
. Bob was kind of the leader of the group. Bob and Max were so popular in school. How was he going to find a friend like Max?
After that, Bob hopped in the car. He waved at his friends as the car drove away. As his mum was driving, Bob wondered what his new school would be like.
Everything will be okay,
said Mum. Bob gave her a smile, and Mum smiled back at him.
CHAPTER 2
It was a short journey to the house, but first they went inside Granddad’s house for some tea. Bob didn’t really like his granddad that much, because he would always sit there and talk about the olden days. Granddad had leathery, crinkled skin. He was rather scary. Every time he spoke, Bob would freeze.
Bob was really excited to see his new house. The house was really big, and Bob really liked it. His room was bigger than his old one.
The next day Bob had to go to his new school. The school was big too. It had lots of kids to play with. His teacher was very young and was called Miss Rachel.
His new friend, Tom, had to tell him everything about the school. Tom was a kind boy who was often bullied at school. He had red spots on his face; he also had black hair and black eyes. His face was shaped like an egg. Bob wasn’t really listening to Tom; he just looked around at the school with his hands in his pockets.
CHAPTER 3
That’s about it,
said Tom.
Um, thank you,
Bob replied. Tom had just told Bob about the school. They went inside the class when suddenly two legs popped out of the door, and Tom smashed onto the ground.
Ha ha ha!
said the two boys, laughing. Billy and Dick were the class bullies. They would pick on Tom every day just for fun. Billy had a very grumpy voice and a twisted nose. He had scruffy torn trousers. His hair was all messed up, and if you looked at him closely, it was as if his eyes were closed. Dick was Billy’s best friend and did everything Billy told him to do. He looked rather like Billy except that his clothes were ripped up, and you could see his two elbows and his belly button. Tom got up and took a seat.
Later Bob was riding his bike home when he saw Tom in the way.
Why did they do that to you?
asked Bob.
I don’t know. They just like doing that,
answered Tom.
Why are you speaking to me anyway? I’m the school’s dork,
said Tom.
Is that so? Well, I don’t think you’re a dork,
replied Bob.
Really?
said Tom, giggling. Thanks!
No problem,
said Bob, laughing. Would you like to come over to my house?
That would be great,
Tom answered. So Tom followed Bob to his house, and they both had a great time.
Bob never thought it would be this easy to make a friend. After that day, Bob and Tom became best friends. Bob didn’t really mind being friends with the school’s dork; he just wanted a friend.
Every day Billy and Dick would look at Bob and Tom with mean faces. Bob asked himself what he had ever done to them. Bob never had an enemy in his old school, and he didn’t
