About this ebook

J R not only focuses on creation itself, but he also addresses the impact of words upon its primal beginning and its controversies.

Congressman Trent Franks

God spoke the words of creation, but Scripture does not elaborate on the intricacies of this action. In SpiritQuest 2: Interface with Creation, author JR McElfresh investigates many of the issues and controversies related to creation and considers the lack of answers to key questions.

Designed for pastors, church leaders, and those who desire to learn more about pivotal creation issues and how the universe began, SpiritQuest 2: Interface with Creation probes into the issues of the relationship between scientific knowledge and the Word of God. This study takes a journey through quarks, quantum mechanics, sound, waveforms, creations voice, energy, the miracles of Jesus, and a host of discoveries showing the relationship between God himself and the physical laws of the universe.

McElfresh elaborates on the importance of the spoken and written word in Scripture, science, and the arena of linguistics in relation to creation; he also discusses the far-reaching impact of words as sounds and visual images on the human mind and thought. SpiritQuest 2: Interface with Creation demonstrates that words have immense power and energy and that it is wise to know how to use them.

    Foreword

    By Congressman Trent Franks,

Never have the importance of words and how they are used been more apparent than in the language used in the Bill of Rights and the Constitution of the United States. Those documents guarantee the freedoms that have been granted to the citizens of this extraordinary country.

Our lives and careers have crossed paths over the course of 30 years, and I place great value on the friendship I share with the author, JR McElfresh. I have deep respect for his use of words to communicate effectively and am intrigued by his book, SpiritQuest 2: Interface with Creation.

JR focuses not only on Creation itself, but he also addresses the impact of words upon its primal beginning and its controversies. The book emphasizes the important role that words have played in the lives of all mankind. I believe that the words JR has used to communicate in this new work will not only energize the reader but will also provide a depth of understanding he or she may never otherwise experience.

Much has been written on this subject, but very little will have the ongoing impact that is imparted in SpiritQuest 2: Interface with Creation. I pray that JR’s work in this book as well as future endeavors will bring him much fulfillment, success and recognition on his life’s journey.

    The Search

What In the World Is An Agnostic?

It was the Saturday before Easter, 1979. The day was a cold, wind-howlin’, steel-grey Texas day. The thought of me going to church with the family on Easter Sunday was gone in a nano-second. What! Me go to church?

As an avowed agnostic, it would be the last thing I would consent to do. Little did I grasp that 24 hours later, my life would be turned literally topsy turvey! I am sorry, I digress. That is another story!

Okay, so I was an agnostic. What does that mean? What does that have to do with things in our world today? Countless Americans today are agnostics. Many just don’t comprehend the meaning and typical characteristics of an agnostic. However, they have some idea of what an atheist believes. Seldom do we hear about agnostics and what they believe. Let’s look at a couple of examples of atheists.

Do you know someone who is an atheist (one who does not believe in a divine being)? An atheist is one who thinks that man is the ultimate being and the highest authority in the physical world. Two well-known examples are Madalyn Murray O’Hair, and Stephen Hawking. Agnostics leave open the possibility that a higher authority or being might exist. Being a reasonable person, that was my position.

I had come to the point that I realized I (or for that matter any human) could not possibly be aware of the totality of all knowledge. Therefore, the existence of God was likely. I knew this to be true; I just didn’t want anything to do with a higher power or him messing with me. I wanted to do my own thing and I wanted to do it my way. I didn’t want any higher authority telling me what to do or how to do it! Well, that has changed because being an agnostic did present its challenges.

    Challenges

The first challenge is — acquiring values that form our foundation and how that is completed. Secondly, is there a cause and effect relationship between our values and the results they produce? Thirdly, are there absolutes that exist and where do they come from? Moreover, for our final thought, what is the relationship between our physical world and the spiritual realm?

At this point, we will not do a detailed discussion of these challenges, but use them as the starting point for the dialogue that follows. However, we will note some hurdles and the results produced. Briefly we will look at two national leaders. The first is Adolf Hitler and the second is Abraham Lincoln. Through their lives and leadership styles, we will see similar challenges and their results.

Why is this important for us? Beliefs and values create stability and unity. Without a solid footing of truth, we will see stability and unity give way to lies, deceptions and perverted – self seeking actions in a select few. Hitler’s Nazism was an example of this.

    Adolf Hitler

Hitler was an enigma as a leader. Mein Kampf was the book about his life. It gives us a picture of someone who struggled in childhood to find himself and as an adult his own unique identity. As a proud German soldier in WWI, he was devastated by the German defeat. He vowed to continue the conflict and help his country to regain its proud heritage and national leadership.

Unlike Lincoln, Hitler hated the Bible, the Jews and cowardly leadership. He became a charismatic leader of the German Republic. He used whatever values that worked if they increased his leadership. Secrecy, misdirection, lies, deceit and trickery were tools that Hitler used with much skill to gain power over his nation.

Once he gained that power position, nothing but death itself would loosen his grip as the dictator of Germany and the Nazi party. The only absolute that Hitler possessed was that he would be in control. His goal: world domination and the death of freedom. To him anyone that was not of the Aryan race was to be enslaved and used at the whim of the German people.

    Abraham Lincoln

Lincoln was the sixteenth president of the United States. He was a religious man but not a member of any specific denomination. The Bible was his textbook and the foundation for his life. It formed the core values that Lincoln held so dear. These values would cost him the ultimate sacrifice. He did not believe in slavery. He believed that all men were created by God and were created equal. This value and his belief in it required his life. He was the first U.S. President to be assassinated. His presidency and his values are one of the cornerstones of our country. He believed in absolutes and he believed that there was a relationship between the physical and the spiritual world.

    Contrast

In these two leaders, we see a contrast between one who believed in spiritual absolutes and one who believed in physical absolutes. Both died as a result of what they believed.

One is remembered as a despicable degenerate who put our world through many years of death, devastation and war. Hitler was a tyrant who murdered innocent people because of his intense hatreds. His identity became that of everything negative in a national leader.

On the other hand, Lincoln became the leader who believed in spiritual absolutes, in the equality of man and set the example of leadership values. He will long be recalled as the voice of freedom and truth. Re: http://rogerjnorton.com/Lincoln.html.

Lincoln represents American ideals and the voice of freedom and truth as found in our Constitution and Bill of Rights. He based his beliefs on Biblical principles. Historically, our country owes much to the Bible for its solid principles in its government, rule and leadership.

For instance, Lincoln said It is my constant anxiety and prayer that I and this nation should be on the Lord’s side. It is further evidenced by the inscription on Lincoln’s statute at the Lincoln Memorial. Newt Gingrich says, Lincoln’s second inaugural address, considered by some to be his greatest speech, is inscribed into the wall on the right side of the statue. Although a mere 703 words, the address mentions God fourteen times and references the Bible four times. Lincoln’s values are plainly evident from his speeches. (Quotes are from Rediscovering God in America, by Newt Gingrich and from http://rogerjnorton.com/Lincoln.html website.)

As we look at these contrasts, now is the time to revisit our previous discussion on challenges. First, what forms the foundation of our values and how do we acquire them? We see Lincoln using the Bible as his tool that formed his value system. From it he developed strong positive values. The words he took in gave him strength and tenacity of character. It prepared him for his role in life and his destiny. On the other hand, Hitler based his values on what helped him to achieve his goals. Those values he used are in conflict with the moral absolutes we see defined in the Bible. The end result of what he desired became defeat and demoralization of the country he so highly valued.

Secondly, is there a cause and effect relationship between our values and the results they produce? If we look at the history of each man, we see distinct differences in the results they rendered. The life of Lincoln is treasured much more positively than that of Hitler. It seems that what each valued produced very different results.

Thirdly, are there absolutes that exist and where do they come from? Your answer to this question depends upon your belief in a higher authority and eternity. If you do not believe in a higher authority or God, then your absolutes are totally dependent upon manmade reasoning and definitions (i.e. Hitler). If you do believe in a higher authority or God, then you are dependent upon eternal values and your grasp of them. It is my opinion that the Bible is the best authority and source of absolute values. Those of other religious beliefs will have there own sources.

In our last challenge, what is the relationship between our physical world and the spiritual domain? For the atheist and agnostic, this question has very little application. Their focus is primarily upon the physical area. Time will be the true test of what they experience. For those who believe in God or a higher authority, the question is a very meaningful one. It provides an outside source of unchanging authority. Time does not erode these values because they are based upon a timelessness that man can not change: i.e. he has no impact upon the source of the absolute value. The relationship between our physical world and the spiritual sphere then becomes extremely significant.

The importance is the foundation of truth. Without an absolute truth foundation, governing people will be a chaotic venture at best. For example, nations who do not have a solid foundation of truth are constantly at war, overthrowing rulers and floundering in economic chaos. A solid foundation of truth is a necessary component for sound relationships between those who rule and those who are being ruled. This is evident in the difference between Lincoln and Hitler and the results they provoked as leaders.

Truth illuminates. It brings clarity to human activity. It lights the way for progress and lasting success. Without the searchlight of truth, all of man’s spiritual, mental and physical endeavors tend to become self-serving and destructive. Without truth based upon unmovable and unmistakably sound principles, it becomes like quicksand that sucks you down, suffocates life, extinguishes progress and brings darkness.

The relationship between our physical world and the spiritual region then becomes extremely important. The significance is that the spiritual realm sets forth the arena of unchanging perfection (truth) and spotlights what this really means. This is important because the focus of perfection is light and energy. Why? Without light, we cannot see perfection or its source. Without energy, we are non-existent. Light and energy are the core components that make life — physical or spiritual — possible. It is to this end that we enter into the discussions which follow in this work.

Think about this concept: In every human activity energy is used. That energy can make darkened and destructive intellect or it can illuminate actions that have a positive and lasting impact on mankind. For example, Lincoln was a leader who promoted the light of freedom for all Americans and set the example for a global community. From his example, we see that an individual’s values can have a long and lasting impact even beyond one’s own lifetime.

It is the intent of this author in the discussion that follows to bring a stable footing and invigorating life, promote progress and shine a bright light upon the foundation of timeless truth. In doing this, I must share part of the journey I traveled that brought me to lay out the reasons and logic that have become this work.

    Lasting Values

On a more personal note, I must give some of my private historical background that brought me to this undertaking. The summer of 2004 consisted of finishing one work while pondering my next course of activity. It was late June and my wife and I were on a trip to a writer’s convention in Atlanta, Georgia. While there, some thoughts of a new work about spiritual energy and its source came to mind. The idea was discussed with several authors and publication editors, but was received with mild indifference. After a few discussions with several more colleagues, it was not thought of as a subject of viable interest to today’s readers. After several days, I dismissed it as an unworkable subject to write about. My thoughts on the subject were filed and forgotten.

The idea of a spiritual application to Einstein’s Theory of Relativity had come very strongly to my mind during this trip that June. When I shared it with more associates, the common reaction was what on earth are you talking about? As time passed my thoughts on the subject faded, but periodically, the idea would resurface. Each time, a new point of view would present itself. I would write down several ideas and research results. This happened again and again over the course of the next three or four years.

In late 2007, my wife and I went to Africa to serve with a team to do cross-cultural work. As our time there drew to a close, the subject about Einstein again reared its stimulating energies. I am sure that Divine guidance and inspiration were the motivating forces pressing me to pursue the work. It began to occupy more and more of my thinking as the days and months swirled into years.

I became very burdened and focused upon writing down the thoughts, ideas and research that surrounded the subject of spiritual energy. After returning to the U.S. early in 2009, I knew that my work would be to research and write about the concepts involved in a spiritual application for E=MC². It is not a work that I would have chosen for myself. Nevertheless, it is a work that comes from those things that I value most. It comes through the persistent urging of my Lord Jesus Christ. It is only by His guiding hand that I have been able to put together a work of this nature.

Please realize that what ever you believe becomes your own responsibility. What follows is what I believe and it is my responsibility to write and share it. The things that are written in what follows, are way beyond my capability as a human being. Their source is far more absolute than anything I can imagine. Keep in mind, I am the pen, and the words are from a source greater than I. With that sense, let us proceed and see what thoughts, concepts and ideas are being illuminated from the eternal source of Light, The Trinity. Perhaps the following idea will help to light your way: God thinks it, Jesus says it, and the Holy Spirit does it. Please read on and see if you agree.
