    FOREWORD

For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men… (Titus 2:11). Grace has appeared to all men and many have misunderstood it. Some have absolutely abused this divine gift. The multitudes of the Earth are therefore confused by the idea of God’s grace. Some preachers pull back from speaking openly and confidently about grace because of the perceived connotations surrounding the word grace. Jim O’Connor is not of that number.

Jim O’Connor has written this treatise, Sufficient Grace, so each person can understand grace, see its loveliness and enjoy its rich qualities. This study guide travels in the lighted path of God’s word. It is not an exhaustive text due to its size limitations; but it is comprehensive. Sufficient Grace is well written and scripture filled. Its language is descriptive inspiring the studious mind to think deeply. The language is filled with the uncommon commodity of common sense for which brother Jim O’Connor is known.

Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls. Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you: Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow (1 Pet.1:9-11). Sufficient Grace guides you into a study of grace from the Old Testament to the New Testament. In every lesson one realizes that grace is not a no strings attached gift". Rather, grace is learned to be God’s love in action which by design demands a faith response. Indeed we are saved by grace, through faith (Eph.2:8).

Brother Jim O’Connor is a beloved brother and good friend to me and many of my preaching brethren. We listen to brother O’Connor’s teaching and preaching because he always has something wise to say. He has a way of saying much in few words that penetrate. His life has been given in service to Christ upon the foreign fields where comforts are secondary to the work at hand. He has served well with his wife, Judy, at his side. He is who he is by the grace of God. And like grace he has influenced men away from sin and toward righteousness. In this study brother Jim takes you to the source of the stream, then causes you to look up into the clouds and then beyond to God from whom all blessings flow. His sentiment is that of inspiration, . . . Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ (Rom.1:7; 1 Cor.1:3; 2 Cor.1:2; Gal.1:3; Eph.1:2; Phil.1:2; Col.1:2; 1 Thess.1:1; 2 Thess.1:2; 1 Tim.1:2; 2 Tim.1:2; Tit.1:4; Phm.1:3).

    INTRODUCTION

And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9)

Grace is much easier to sing about, talk about, even pray about, than it is to understand, yet, as our understanding of it grows, so do our songs, prayers, and conversations about it. It is a subject of such rich quality that one cannot study it without being enriched by it, and it is a subject of such value and importance, that one cannot ignore it without great loss.

Passages of scripture from the Bible such as, For by grace are ye saved through faith (Ephesians 2:8), and For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared unto all men (Titus 2:11), should make us aware of the importance of this tremendous subject, and form within us a deep desire and eagerness to know all we
