About this ebook

Tapestry: A Medieval Tale of Curses, Crowns, and Courage introduces a wonderful world of dragons, knights, and powerful wizards. They wind their way through a maze of lies, jealousy, and madness in search of truth, justice, and honor. As imagined by author Jerry Smith, this world comes alive through a poetic narrative that follows the story of a gentle princess and her reluctant hero. Fortified with courage and stealth, they find the strength and perseverance to overcome the death, darkness, and destruction unleashed upon their land by an evil, power-hungry mage and a scheming sorceress.

Written in the style of the great Greek and Roman poets, Tapestry presents rich imagery and eloquent rhyming couplets portraying the adversity encountered by its characters. It follows them as they struggleevil against good, death against life, and destruction against rebirth. Feudal lords, evil enemies, and noble knights emerge and entwine into colorful strands, creating this carefully woven tale as a vibrant tapestry filled with hope and promise for an age consumed by darkness and despair.

Tapestry: A Medieval Tale of Curses, Crowns, and Courage brings the poetic narrative to a story of good versus evil in a world brimming with justice, honor, mystery, and magic.

    Tapestry - Jerry Smith

    THE KNIGHT

A chivalrous knight in armor of midnight black

Mounts firmly upon his trusted steed’s sturdy back

This beautiful horse all in alabaster white

Together they forge out into the cold dark night

As the portcullis of the castle lifts away

The two companions move forward along their way

Across the drawbridge upon their most noble quest

Into this cruel unforgiving night without rest

Out into this turbulent vast world across land

10             Righting wrongs and unjust, taking a stoic stand

Heroic knight with his big fragile heart of gold

Bearing forth with his ideals born from thee, now old

So much in this new world is changed and now gone past

Burden of the quest is his to carry at last

Winds begin to blow and heavy snow starts to fall

Noble knight pushes forward to answer his call

The trials of this journey have now just begun

’Tis a long way off ’til the rise of the day’s sun

Onward through this winter’s night storm for they must go

20             Along the righteous path amidst the mounting snow

Laboriously down heavy snow covered trail

The companions of good continue without fail

Trudging along the blanketed white covered fields

Conviction within their souls won’t waver or yield

As the castle completely fades in the distance

Battling against the storm with much resistance

Suddenly, a massive silver dragon appears

Gallantly, knight and steed stand firm despite their fears

Drawing forth his sword of truth, they begin their charge

30             Attacking the enormous dragon, looming large

Slashes strike ’pon the foes in a blink of their eyes

Upon the fallen snow, this brave hero now lies

As the blood stains the ground from a wound to his head

This brave knight will not be left behind to the dead

Dragon defeated, the battle is now over

The wounds to the knight continue to spill over

Weary and injured the knight struggles to move on

As the sun rises to signal the break of dawn

Gazing ’round, the knight’s steed is nowhere to be seen

40             Asking the heavens for help and to intervene

Searching deep within, down into his very soul

Discovering the strength to make himself now whole

Slight movement catches his eye, something in the brush

    Cautiously approaching,
