This story is not really about a cup of coffee. I mean, how boring would that be? It’s really about a stupid cat. However, this stupid cat caused a major problem all because I wanted a ‘simple cup of coffee’. Hence the title.
So, lets begin!
cat.jpgChapter 1
Like most families these days, both my husband and I work full time jobs to keep up with today’s expenses. We live a very busy life style having five children, which is why we allow ourselves twenty minutes every morning to relax over coffee before heading off to our respectful busy work days. I wasn’t even down the stairs when I heard my daughter’s loud screeching voice.
Mom! Tell Brian to hurry up! I’m going to leave without him!
Alex, you need to drive your brother to school.
I turned and yelled up the stairs myself. Brian! Get a move on! Alex has to be at school earlier this morning!
Alex is two years older than her brother. The mornings are always like this. She likes to be on time, where Brian is very lackadaisical, especially when it comes to school. After a fight and a half, a little yelling at my end and more screaming from my daughter, the two kids finally made it out the door. Too much for me to handle before my morning coffee.

This particular morning found me desperately wanting to be outside. It was a beautiful spring morning. My husband and I did lots of work on the yard this weekend and I wanted to bask in the glow of our handy work. But when Mike doesn’t want to do something, he comes up with excuses to try to justify his reasoning. We can’t have coffee outside, we have to go to work
.
Hon, what’s the big deal? Either way, we have to go to work . . . drinking our coffee inside at the kitchen table or outside on the patio.
"So, what is the big deal? he asks.
Why can’t we just drink it inside? We’ll throw burgers on the grill tonight and check out our handy work then. Besides, we won’t be rushed."
"Mike, we just cleaned up the
