Whether it’s taking out the bins, changing the beds, emptying the laundry basket or stacking the dishwasher, looking after a home is a time-consuming business. And, as I hung out the washing one morning, I started to wonder whether household jobs are shared evenly between couples? Surely some are more time-consuming and trickier than others?

I decided to put this to the test with my husband Paul, 51. I work as a journalist and yoga teacher, while Paul runs a wholesale business, and along with looking
