ABOUT THE AUTHOR
PREFACE
MASTERMIND FOR LIFE is a revolutionary concept of problem solving and decision-making. It begins by applying vital changes in our own thoughts, allowing total control of our behavior, which ultimately determines the outcome of all aspects of our life. It is a simple process, once you have learned to be the master of your own mind.
The techniques offered in this book will empower anyone who applies the knowledge disclosed to lead a life of abundance, filled with the riches we were all born to claim. It is not new information. This method of thought has been around since Socrates drank a cup of poison, so devoted was he to this philosophy, that he proposed his own death to prove it. We still quote this man’s words today.
Socrates knew how to tap into the transforming energy that allows the subconscious mind to communicate with the conscious mind. This fourth century great thinker was committed to the theory that everyone in the world has the ability to do the extraordinary by using the greatest tool imaginable—the mind. It is far more advanced than any computer. In fact, your brain is the ultimate computer and has more power than all of Bill Gates’ Microsoft systems.
We are all born with this power. We all have access to the force of it, as it is within us. Thousands and thousands of self-help books, articles, essays and dissertations have been composed and packed with promises of the infinite possibilities that lay right at the end of our fingertips, just waiting to be released.
But none of them tells the reader exactly how. Until now!
MASTERMIND FOR LIFE succeeds where other books in the motivational genre have failed by finally supplying the knowledge and skills to actually ATTAIN our hopes and dreams, instead of just being inspired to do so. Readers will find themselves armed with the courage, confidence and determination that is necessary to reach any goal, or overcome enormous obstacles. The secret is as simple as a meeting of the minds.
Not in terms of heated negotiations in a business board room, but almost.
MASTERMIND is your very own boardroom where your conscious mind connects to your subconscious mind.
The way we react to circumstances is how we determine who we are and how we affect those around us. In every moment, we possess a choice in what we say and do. Our internal thoughts, which lay in our subconscious mind (and are often filled with false beliefs," control our decision-making ability, and the actions we take as a result. If we allow ourselves to succumb to thoughts that register fear and doubt, we have already set up a situation to have a negative result, due to negative emotional responses. Poor decisions are often made too quickly and are based on presumptions that ultimately stood in the way of our ability to succeed.
Imagine what it would be like to have a panel of experts, in any area that you wish to conqueror or excel in, available to you at all times. This is the key to MASTERMIND FOR LIFE.
INTRODUCTION
Mastermind is a place in your mind that can be visited anytime from anywhere of your own choosing. It is a technique of problem solving that gives you access to the greatest names in history to be your personal guides and mentors.
Imagine if you will, what it would be like to glean the advice of a Warren Buffet on your business career, or a Tiger Woods for golf tips to improve your game. Once you attain a better understanding of how your mind works, both the conscious and the subconscious part, this sort of intimate counsel may be applied to any area of your life.
The way we react to circumstances is how we determine who we are, and our method of handling problems ultimately affects our success, or failure. In our thinking process, there is a response time between emotional reaction and physical action. In that time, stands our freedom to choose. If we allow ourselves to be overwhelmed, then we will have difficulty in selecting the wisest path. If, however, we factor into our thoughts reliable advice from those we admire, living or dead, we lay the foundation for success in knowing we have made positive choices.
This opens our lives to endless possibilities. Our brains are computers, constantly being fed new information in every thought. Unfortunately, some of those sources make it possible for negativity to creep in and impose severe limits. A long ago remark made by a jealous sibling or an overworked parent can predetermine how we view our future; even if we have since forgotten the source.
Sometimes we draw support from other family members, friends, even co-workers. But more often than we know, we end up placing a lid on our accomplishments through the images we have come to recognize as ourselves. We behave our way into our circumstances by the reactions that move us to act.
In every situation, there is an opportunity to be patient and kind, or to rise easily to anger and frustration. We can be followers, or we can be leaders. We get to make the choice of which one it’s going to be. Leaders are made, not born. There are no extraordinary people, just ordinary people who do extraordinary things. If only we could learn to compete in the business world alongside Donald Trump and witness how he conducts himself in his boardroom, surrounded by his advisors.
Think about it: What if you could create your own boardroom, and fill the chairs with anyone of your choosing? Suppose you could ask any question and place it for consideration before your Mastermind Board, and get an answer based on the expertise of your handpicked advisors. This ability will soon be yours!
CHAPTER 1
MASTERMIND OVERVIEW
Since the beginning of mankind, humans have had to confront issues and situations that required problem solving. In the early years, the problems were few in numbers and revolved around needs
: food, shelter, and rest. Basic skills were developed through simple observation and instinct. The goal, of course, was survival, pure and simple, and each individual had the rudimentary capacity of safely resolving his/her basic needs.
As time evolved, problems increased in number and life became more complicated. The problems became more complex requiring much more time to resolve. That, in turn, led to specialization. Experts developed in many subjects, but only through a person dedicating most of his/her life to that one subject.
None of us have the in-depth knowledge of these specialists, but each of us knows the information exists, and elements of their work over the years have found residence in our mind. While we may not bring this information into play every day, it still resides in our subconscious mind. If we could call upon these experts for advice and counsel when needed, we would have a tremendous advantage.
You can develop that ability through MASTERMIND.
Would you like to change the way you act, or create a new you? How do you see yourself? Are you at a point in your life where you are asking, What’s next?
Do you feel that the relationship you’re in needs help? Or it is time to have more money, find a better job, or do the job you have better? You are holding the solution in your hand. This book can show you the way. It can change your life and the way you think forever.
What is Mastermind For Life? It is a place in your mind that you can visit and solve your problems with help from the greatest names in history. Imagine being able to sit and talk with a Hillary Clinton or a Steven Jobs. You may find yourself solving your business problems with Warren Buffet or taking some tennis tips from Roger Federer. For all this to happen, you must have a better understanding of how your mind works.
Are you aware of how your mind works? The way we react to circumstances determines who we are. Do you know how you will react to different things? Have you ever sat down and thought about who you are and how you became the way you are? Are you the type of person who is patient? Or are you the kind of person to get mad easily?
The Mastermind program trains the subconscious mind to add space between an action and a reaction, and get the assistance of the people that you trust and admire, to fill that space with conscious thought and almost always a better result.
Why would you have a Mastermind Boardroom? It is a reliable place to ask questions, and then get an answer, so you can make an informed decision. Just think of it: Ask a good question and bring it to your Mastermind Board. Ask these great people, who you have chosen, for their input. Go over different options, ponder your thoughts. If you concentrate on a problem with enough intensity, your subconscious mind absorbs this thinking and goes to work on the problem without you even knowing it. Before long it comes up with an answer and feeds it back to your conscious mind. With a little practice, you will be fully prepared to create a space between an action and a reaction. Then you will find more success in everything you do.
Your Mastermind Boardroom is the place where you can turn to for many of the answers you will need from day to day. The larger and more complete your mental library is, the better equipped you are to create a better and more successful life for yourself.
How do you add more knowledge to your Mastermind library? You ask other great minds. If you want to know how to create good values, you may read or learn more about great people who have been leaders in life and have had great values. If you wanted to know more about inventing new solutions, you may ask Thomas Edison. If you feel like improving your swing of a baseball or softball bat, you might ask The Babe.
You can learn from others. You can invite them into you Mastermind Boardroom at any time and they will be glad to help. They will share any and all information with you.
The first times I ever heard the word mastermind was from the book, Think and Grow Rich
by Napoleon Hill. Here is a little about the man:
NAPOLEON HILL (1883-1970)
Founder of The Science Of Success
Whatever your mind can conceive and believe, it can achieve.
—Napoleon Hill.
American born Napoleon Hill is considered to have influenced more people in being successful than any other person in history. He has been perhaps the most influential man in the area of personal success technique development, primarily through his classic book, Think and Grow Rich.
It has helped millions of people and has been important in the life of many wealthy people such as W. Clement Stone and Og Mandino.
Napoleon Hill was born into poverty in 1883 in a one-room cabin on the Pound River in Wise County, Virginia. He started out as a very rebellious boy, but grew up to be an incredible man. He began his writing career at age 13 as a mountain reporter
for small town newspapers and went on to become America’s most beloved motivational author. Hill dedicated more than 25 years of his life defining the reasons so many people fail to achieve true financial success and happiness in their life. He was given an assignment to write a series of success stories of famous men, and his big break came when he was asked to interview steel magnate Andrew Carnegie.
Mr. Carnegie then commissioned Hill to interview over 500 millionaires to find a success formula or blueprint that could be used by the average person. These millionaires included Thomas Edison, Alexander Graham Bell, Henry Ford, Charles M. Schwab, Theodore Roosevelt, William Wrigley Jr., George Eastman, Woodrow Wilson, John D. Rockefeller, and F. W. Woolworth, among others.
As an advisor to Andrew Carnegie, the two of them formulated a philosophy of success, drawing on the thoughts and experience of a multitude of rags-to-riches tycoons. It took Hill over 20 years to produce his book that became a classic in the personal development field. It has sold over seven million copies and has helped countless ordinary people achieve amazing success. Hill’s secret to success is very simple, but you’ll have to read the book to find out what it is!
Napoleon Hill’s work stands as a monument to individual achievement and is the cornerstone of modern motivational books. Following are some
