Chapter 1
Anger and Bitterness
God knew the capability of human feelings when he left with us instruction to be angry and sin not. When God made man he created him in his own image. When God sent Jesus, his son, to succor the land, he experienced the cares of the world as well as the burdens of the people. It was prophesied by the Prophet Isaiah that the government shall be upon the shoulders of the child born unto us: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, The Mighty God, The Everlasting Father, and The Prince of Peace (Isaiah 9:6). Therefore, Christ had to suffer great hardship in order to earn up to these majestical names. His life was predestined before he was born. Persecution was ordained for him to endure so that we could have eternal life. God held our destiny in his hands before conception even took place. Being-as-though, we were made in his likeness, there’s nothing that we can possibly feel or experience that Jesus Christ hasn’t felt himself. He can deliver those who are tempted because he was once tempted. Likewise, for all of our other struggles.
Dealing with persecution has opened the door to many frustrations that constantly war our mind. People can define frustration in many ways and give many reasons why they have to deal with it. We become mentally and spiritually trapped in situations that we don’t realize that we’re in. It’s hard to make a step towards the future when the chapter to our past has not yet been closed. Resurrecting childhood and past experiences and integrating them with everyday life makes it even harder to press on. We allow circumstances to frustrate us to the point where we become angry with ourselves and others for failures. The very time you become distracted by the spirit of frustration that victory of the present trial is given to the enemy. The inward anger conceives outward bitterness, which gives birth to mind enslavement. The mind becomes locked in a perception where we no longer have control over our own thoughts. We become slaves to the enemy because opportunity has been given to him to create imaginations. If you give him a millimeter he’ll take a centimeter; if you give him an inch he’ll take a foot; if you give him a yard he’ll take a mile. No human being can afford to give room to the enemy because he takes that which was given and even more. He only can work with what’s given to him. Resist the devil and he will flee from you (James 4:7).
The only way to avoid mind entrapment is to keep your mind stayed on God. Let’s face reality. It’s hard to keep your mind on celestial things when your thoughts are being overwhelmed with distractions and hindrances. Many questions ramble in our minds to help us try to figure out God’s will. For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your
