FORWARD
My intention in writing this story is to share a spiritual journey. It is a path we all continuously travel, seemingly by ourselves, and yet truly never alone. Through the eyes of a child’s open heart we can observe our true nature. On this journey, Universal messages come through the Divine Feminine and in deepest respect for the wisdom of Native American culture and totems. Egyptian symbolism is honored as well. I have chosen to use capitalization for the great messengers-the Birds, and other of Mother Earth’s domain, in recognition and in gratitude for their presence.

Day 1
I am inviting you to my house…
I am lying down, relaxing on the soft bed of newly cut grass in my backyard. The tips of the shortened, bright green blades tickle my bare, tanned arms. As I take a breath in, I relax even more. My nostrils fill with the clean freshness after a gentle night’s rain. I let the air out, blowing it up across my face as if it would cool me off. A strand of my ash brown hair clings to my forehead like a dangling wet leaf clinging to its own tree bark. I take a deep breath down into my belly and smile, my arms and legs stretched out as if I were moving to create a snow angel. But I am still. Still as a rock.
I feel the sweat beading on my forehead and the sun warming my whole body. I can see the Oak tree at the corner of the yard giving a bit of shade to my house. My eyes follow its strong brown-armed branches upward and I look at the top of my world - the big blue beautiful sky smiling down at me. The little puffs of white cumulus clouds begin to slowly move across the sky. I am drifting along with them, daydreaming. Oh, look, I see the pointed ears of a cat and then it’s long curling tail streaming by. The cotton puffed images travel into stories in my mind. I love it. It is all so exciting and very peaceful at the same time. I feel so relaxed and connected to Nature.
My Grandmother taught me to allow the stillness and quietness to become a part of me. She says the Earth’s energies can awaken your true spirit. Mother Earth and Father Sky,
she sometimes calls it. She has a wisdom that I respect so much. Grandmother has said that Mother Earth places her energies into all the plants and animals, even the rocks and stones. That seems so loving and caring. And when I think of what is actually happening, it is fascinating.
While I lie as perfectly still as the Oak tree, there is actually a rhythm of movement. I remind myself that water moves from the soil through the roots into the trunks and stems and branches, then finally to the leaves. Then the leaves capture the sun’s energy taking what they need from the air. So much are we alike! As I look at the beautiful green leaves of the Oak tree I think of how the trees’ immense roots are connected into the earth, giving it life. I close my eyes and imagine Mother Earth’s energy buried deep in the underground roots of the Oak tree. Then I imagine the energy as a glowing golden sunLight coming up from the roots, reaching towards me and touching the balls of my feet. Then the Light enters through my feet as if they are my roots. I breathe a deep big belly breath and feel the shining Light travel up my legs and into my belly, then my arms and head. How peaceful and relaxing is that!
I open my eyes and search the sunny skies for any birds that fly among the bright blue protective cover, which seems endless. I see three birds flying above, their wings carrying them ever so gracefully. The clouds are continually passing and the sun glows so warmly in the Light of Father Sky. What a wonderful day. I am so grateful.
It feels like I have been daydreaming for hours. It feels as if time has stood still with me. At the same time, my inner voice whispers, nudging me to move. I slowly get up and go into my house. I feel totally rejuvenated with energy.
First things first. Goldenrod, my cat, needs a lot of attention from me. I know he is a cat, and independent at that, but I am his caretaker. He is waiting to be fed his favorite tasty morsels of fish and rice. I like the combination as well, but not in cat food form!
Goldenrod loves me to stroke his soft furry back and scratch under his ears. His eyes look at me like half-moon marbles as he soaks up the love. He certainly thinks I could do that all day long. He is a long-haired golden cat that my family got from a rescue home. I like to think he is alive because of us. I take the time to brush him, too. One time I neglected brushing him for a whole month and he got knotted fur on his back. I felt so sorry for him that I decided that part of loving him was to really make sure I cared enough and did not get lazy about brushing him. I mean, I do remember to brush my own long brown hair every day. Wow, there is always a lot of furry golden hair on Goldenrod’s brush.
His hair clings to my clothes too but I do not mind. So much love he gives me.
I want to show him how much I love him. Another rough tongue lick from him, we get nose-to-nose to say, I love you,
and now I know it is time to do my house chores.
This afternoon will be dedicated to cleaning my room.
