The words rang in Hugh Galpin’s ears as he trudged out into the dark woods, repeating over and over alongside the steady beat of his heart. His second, Loftus Burk, scurried along by his side.
Kill the bastard,
Burk said, pushing back his greasy blond hair, Kill the swine. Kill him dead so he might come back like Christ did and you can kill him again.
