This adorable dog, Ellie, is trying so hard to be good. She smells that sandwich in the kitchen and knows she should not take a bite, but it is so hard. Fortunately, the owner comes in just in time to save her. The praise she receives for being a good dog makes her beam. The illustrations are wonderful, they are colourful and so adorable. Toddlers and Pre-schoolers are going to love this book. The lesson that being proud and being recognized when you try so hard is a great one as well. This book should be in every kindergarten classroom as well as in family libraries.

Don't hesitate to read this book to youngsters whether one is a dog lover or not. With delightful natural rhyme and rhythm you experience the realistic temptations Ellie encounters in trying to be good. The illustrations by Serene Wyatt are bold and dynamic with superb facial expressions on Ellie. Because the cover has the wording "Life's Little Lessons #1" I'm not going to be hesitant in getting other titles in this series. I received a copy for review from the Goodreads giveaway program.
