    About the Authors

    Jeffrey Chatellier is a conservation scientist who learned about the Siné-Saloum Delta in Senegal after having spent three years working on community reforestation and conservation projects in the region as Peace Corps volunteer, working with the Senegalese Ministry of the Environment and Protection of Nature. He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Economics from The George Washington University and a Masters’ Degree in Environmental Science from Yale University and was a Fulbright Research Scholar in Indonesia. Since 2010, he has worked as the Director of Forest Carbon, a Southeast Asia consultancy, where he has advised governments, companies, and international organizations on forest conservation, sustainability, and environmental policy. In 2017, he closed one of the largest conservation finance investments in Indonesia for a 22,000 ha peatland rainforest restoration project in South Sumatra that totaled 6.6 million
