Poetry sometimes is a thrill to emancipate the depth of excitement in one's life. At other times, it is the embodiment and reflections of practicality in human life, the sorrows, the sufferings of disadvantaged human beings. And yet, at other time, it is the humanity by the force of power or by the force of trror, unjust though in nature, in their own way. The ultimate victim is the human and the degredation of human feelings. These are the prime thoughts and effects, the author tried to focuus through the collections of these selective poems that ranges from 1971-2006 and they're only samples though, of all these years writings. Another aspect is the nature's gifts to mankind and its beauty that the author touches through the soul of misty waves.

A few words:

It is my belief that from the very start of my career as a writer, especially in the rhythm and body of poems, in vocabulary, in expressions, the human life, the daily social life, humanity and human rights issues come straight up over everything and want to stay alert to join in the time stream of eternity, to keep an eye on the life stream of all time, be it the neglected, oppressed, poor human or the cruel power of the oppressors.

Today, I am truly pleased in this thought that the long cherished devotion of mine is finally shaping up in reality through the publication of this selected cluster of poems, the name of which is In Search of Light (Bengali: Alok Bortikar Shondhaney). While I was living here abroad for many, many years, most of these poems have been written within that time period. With a great hope I have come so far to present my works to you. The works that have found place in this publication cover a period of over thirty years.

At this time junction, I have presented to you a part of my literary works of all those years. To that end, I am conceivably affirmed, delighted, excited and in humble silence, hopeful. I hope through the creations of these time periods, I shall have the opportunity to come close to you for the works that I have endeared for so long. The past ages and the works have spoken and now it is up to you to judge, to slice and to build, if it is to be so. Let the bell ring if it is to save human causes and thereby humanity.

I would also hope that in the tide of this publication, let it tremble, shiver, crumble and finally break down to ruins the workshop of those of the oppressors because of whose terrible thoughts, plans and diplomatic cruel deeds the innocent oppressed, repressed and tortured human of my devotion day by day sink to the bottom of their unblossomed life. Let them, the oppressed, be awakened and rise up with vigor into the tide of life at this moment.
