Dr. Daphne L. King is a school social worker in Loudoun County, Virginia and completed a doctorate in Education in Counseling Psychology from Argosy University in Washington, DC. Dr. King was born and raised in Muskegon Heights, MI where she received her foundation to live life at its fullest by a very supportive and loving family. She learned to read at a very young age and her love of reading led to her enjoyment of writing and academic success. This first book of poetry is the culmination of years of writing and putting feelings on paper. Daphne's years of experience writing is a gift that she has been blessed with by God. Writing or journaling has always been a way for Daphne to express her feelings and communicate the stage she is in at certain points of time in her life. Through these writings, the poems in this book were birthed. These poems took Daphne through a painful period in her life where her fiance died as the result of a car accident and her father died less than two years later from cancer. At the end of the day it was the Love of God and her family and friends that brought her through those difficult times. Dr. King currently lives in Fairfax County, Virginia right outside of Washington, DC. She is actively involved in the ministry of Marlboro Meadows Baptist Church as well as Xi Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. In her spare time, Daphne enjoys reading, shopping, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.
