About this ebook

The purpose for writing this book is that America's role on a global scale since 2009 is being made more difficult by major changes on the global scene. However, the United States will continue to be the leading power for the next decade. China, the Middle East, Pakistan, Iran and the Al-Quida are major challenges to the America's economic and moral supremacy. Ben Bernanke, chairman of the Federal Reserve, has created major reforms in our economy to stabilize the US and avoid a depression. He has poured 1.6 trillion dollars in the American economy plus 1.7 trillion dollars in unconventional loans in 2009, reduced the interest rate to practically zero, started seven Blue Sky Lending Programs, negotiated conditions with the major international leaders in Europe that will help to recover the American economy through a major recession and invested 700 billion dollars to help Wall Street recover from a major disaster.

THE SPLENDOR, WONDER, VISION and COURAGE

    of AMERICA

Chapter I—Introduction—The purpose for writing this book is to make us realize that America’s role on a global scale since 2009 is being made more difficult by major changes on the global scene.

Chapter II Integrity: The Meaning of Integrity is that these individuals have a defined characteristic:

    •   They are very self-confident in who they are.

    •   They have a reputation of being totally honest.

    •   They have a very high sense of personal ethics.

    •   They are a model of a caring and responsible leader.

President Obama, President Harry Truman, Andrew Weil, Bill Gates, Sandra Day O’Connor, Bob Woodward, and Christiane Northup.

Chapter III—Vision Portraits: Ted Kennedy, Abraham Maslow, T. Brazelton, Sonia Sotomayor, General Eisenhower, Bill Moyers, Carl Rogers and James Galbraith.

Chapter IV—Wonder: Single Working Mothers, Gurian Theory, Miller Theory, Thompson Theory, Dave Smith, John Lewis, Tom Brokaw, Waitresses, Divorced Husbands, Children of Divorce and Duke Ellington.

What we mean by wonder is the tendency of the popular culture to stigmatize individuals who in many cases have a capacity of exemplary behavior.

The best example of this situation is the way society tends to define working mothers. Working mothers are frequently seen as totally inadequate as mothers and inefficient as workers because they are conflicted between obligations at home and at work. Working single mothers who raise three children should be seen as heroic women.

Chapter V—Courage to Be: By courage to be, we mean that these individuals regardless of circumstances are determined to achieve their goals and they must be audacious in achieving them. Included are President Jack Kennedy, Nancy Pelosi, Betty Friedan, Audrey Hepburn, Greg Mortensen, Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, Steven Spielberg, Professor Seligman, Lena Horne, Siddha Yoga, General MacArthur, Pedro the Puerto Rican and President Ronald Reagan.

They also realize that as responsible leaders they have to educate the average person to confront the reality that they see. The most outstanding examples of these kinds of courageous men and women are the following: President Jack Kennedy, Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Greg Mortensen. (An American leader who brings civil reforms in Pakistan.)

    Chapter VI—Excellence in Their Craft:

Included are Meryl Streep, Ann Morrow Lindberg, Cary Grant, Jimmy Stewart, James Cameron, Arthur Miller, Richard and Linda Eyere, Roger McIntyre, Albert Einstein, Lauren Bacall, Henry Fonda and Maya Angelou.

Chapter VII—The Future of the Family—Meals in the Family, Precautions Concerning Teenagers. Today, we have new models for what a man should be. The traditional male was expected to be aggressive not show his feelings, being incredibly courageous under adversity and had permission to see women as inferior to men.

Chapter VIII—Governance with Love, Justice and Compassion: Energy Reform, Arthur Miller, Gurian Theory—on boys development, American Motherhood—Pregnancy and Promotion, Maternity leave, Daycare Reform, Divorce Reform, Teaching Reform, The Trauma of War and the Treatment of Wounded Soldiers, Health Care Reform, Training of Young Men to Become Responsible and Caring Leaders, Reviving Ophelia, F. Schwartz, Challenges to Our Future, Dysfunctional Senate, Drug Control in Mexico, Afghanistan, President and the Banks, Israel and Palestine, Education, Deficit, End of Man, Terrorist Reform, Christians and Muslims and conclusions.

Chapter IX—A Quality of Life Between America and France—Dr. Alex Huxley Westfried—Eisler Theory, Key Roles of French Families, USA—Conflict Between Work and Family, USA Ahead in Venture Capital, France and Education, France and Welfare, Feminist Movements, Betty Friedan, Marriage in America, Abortion, Daycare in USA, Maturity Leave, Expectations of the 21st Century, and Inequality in Income.

    Chapter X—Visions of the Future

    COMMENTS ON CITATIONS FOR

    MAJOR BOOKS USED

Barry Brazelton does an excellent job as a therapist. He helps husbands and wives to respect each other, to be aware of the love that they really have for each other and to work a lot harder on understanding each other.

Gurian focuses on the fact that the American family tends to be a nuclear family and makes it very difficult for uncles and grandfathers to have a relationship with their grandsons. This is extremely important since boys can learn from their relatives how to become a sensitive men.

Joan Baker Miller points out in her study that as a result the women going to college and receiving good jobs have become much bolder in seeking their own objectives rather than focusing on caring for others.

Dr. Northop gives excellent advice to mothers on how to develop the character of their daughters by focusing on listening to their inner voice, being cautious on how young women protect their bodies from drugs, alcohol and unregulated sex.

Pipher demonstrates in her book that teenagers are jollily misunderstood by their mothers, probably, because the older generation did not have to fight against alcohol, drugs and sexual experiences.

Robert Reich is a liberal professor and does a very good job in evaluating the achievements and errors of President Obama.

A teacher and journalist from the University of Alaska named Tracey Pilch stated that the organization of my book was good and the selection of outstanding Americans was well-selected.

    COMMENTS ON THE THEORIES

    COVERED IN THIS BOOK

Carl Rogers’ Learning Theory states that students should be seen as wanting to grow, wanting to self-actualize, wanting success in their studies and enjoy the course that they are taking.

Eisler Theory states that our society is evolving into a partnership society with greater equality for women and men at work.

There needs to be more harmony in marital relations according to the new rules of marriage. The author believes that women and men need to cherish each others qualities and ignore their presumed deficits. Once they achieve this attitude, the marriage will go along fine.

The problem of political and economic leadership must be considered under several headings, the power to convince your followers, the integrity of the leaders, the vision of the leaders and their courage in meeting difficult challenges. These are all considered in different chapters.

Presidential leadership must include the power of the president to veto any proposed legislation that must also include the capacity of the president to raise a lot of money thorough wealthy financial institutions.

The parenting problem between mothers and their daughters is made very difficult in a world filled with drugs and alcohol. Dr. Northop has important suggestions recognize the inner voice of your daughter, teach her to respect her body and enhance the ability to make friends. Mary Pipher solutions are different. Young adolescents can find self-confidence in activities like: singing in a choir, becoming a member of a basketball team, acting in the theater and dancing.

Gurian’s Theory is that boys need grandparents and uncles to teach them to be caring and responsible men. In case this does not occur, then he may find mentors in college and high school to teach them self-respect.
