    Dedication

This book is dedicated to the man who died for my sins. Thank you JESUS for all you have done for me, and I praise you for the blessings in my life. Also, I would like to thank my wife Delitra, and the countless others who have helped me get to this point: my mother, Elika, Kenya, Tonya M., Lesley B., Angela J., John L., Spencer R., my family, and other close friends for standing with me in my moments. Renita, my sister, I cannot forget you most of all. I know you wanted your name in 24 of font, but this is all of the font you get. Still, I thank you for always cheering me up when I was down. Your comedic personality has been a blessing to me and countless others. Thank you for always being there for your brother. I truly do not know what I would do without you. You have blessed me more than I can say with my beautiful niece, Alyxandria.

I cannot forget the saints who have inspired me to go on when I felt like giving up. May God bless your lives always! To all the pastors that I have been under: Thank you for the nourishment you gave to my soul. Last but not least, Lolita Johnese, thank you very much for editing my book. Bless you!!!

    Preface

I am writing this book because the Holy Spirit led me to create this book. There have been many books on how to live in the spirit, but I feel that this book will give you a different perspective. You may think, What about college? College is a place of higher learning. That statement is true, but there are other aspects of college that we do not look at. Think about all the dangers at college: the drunk driving, the frat deaths or injuries, the rapes, the attacks, the alcohol poisonings, the drug overdoses, and the death of dreams. College is the place that helps to mold us into who we are. Think about it! We go through changes and learning processes at college that develops us into what we are.

I like to call college the Devil’s playpen! because the enemy attacks us in college many times and in a variety of ways. There were times when friends asked me to go to strip clubs, others offered me drugs, and often students would get into fights and start shooting. When I started college I was not in the WORD. If I had known the Word of God, it would have kept me from a lot of trouble and pain.

If we look at 1 Peter 5:8 it states, Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaming lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour.(King James Version). In Webster’s Dictionary sober means to be marked with temperance, moderation, or seriousness. Vigilant means to keep watch, stay awake, alertly watchful to avoid danger. To devour means to eat up greedily or ravenously, to engulf or destroy as if by eating, to prey upon, and to enjoy avidly. So, if you are not serious about this walk with Christ and stay watchful or alert to avoid danger, our adversary, the devil, will destroy you and enjoy doing it!

I pray this book will help you understand this walk we have with Christ and help you overcome the temptations of college life. Also, I pray this book will equip you with the weapons needed to successfully guide you through those trials at college victoriously.
