About this ebook

This book is an account of the events that took place from August 28 through September 9, 2005 as my family sheltered in an apartment building during and after Hurricane Katrina. Hurricane Katrina was the largest national disaster in the history of the United States. This book explains why we did not evacuate or allow ourselves to be rescued from a flooded area in the lower ninth ward after the hurricane. It reveals the goodness of God in the storm. It shows how He provided for us, how we sought counsel from God instead of man, and how God proved His faithfulness.

    Reflections

Yes, your conquering power you gain from Me. There can be no failure with Me.

The secret of success then is life with Me.

Do you want to make the best of life?

Then live very near to Me, the master and giver of all Life.

Your reward will be sure. It will be perfect success,

But My success. The world may deem you failures. The world judges not as I judge.

When the heavens are opened and the voice speaks, not to all hearts, but to the faithful loving hearts. Remember your great field of labor is yourself.

That is your first task, the weeding, the planting, digging, pruning, bearing of fruit.

When that is done, I lead you out into other fields.

    Hurricane Katrina

The catastrophe everyone expected but nobody was prepared for struck at daybreak on August 29, 2005, sacking the Gulf Coast and creating reverberations that shook the nation. Growing from a counterclockwise swirl of wind in the Caribbean, Katrina turned west, rolled over South Florida as a category-one storm, then swelled with a vengeance into a category five before making landfall in Louisiana, as a category-four hurricane. Disaster followed disaster. The storm swept in a deadly wall of water, erasing towns, trapping tens of thousands, paralyzing rescue efforts. Floodwalls in New Orleans gave way, drowning the city. In the end, one of the deadliest natural disasters
