AUSSIE SPIRIT shines through
The pictures are almost too shocking to comprehend, depicting eerie and apocalyptic scenes, skies red or black from smoke.
At the time of going to print, bushfires had burned through more than 10 million hectares of land and killed 25 people. Almost half a billion animals are thought to have perished.
Thousands of homes have been destroyed and plumes of smoke have choked New Zealand and even reached as far as South America.
But as the world watches on in horror, true Aussie spirit shines through with brave firefighters, families and volunteers working around the clock to battle the blazes and save homes, farms and businesses.
