THE SPIRITUAL TRIAL OF NATHANIEL HOLLANDSWORTH is a supernatural story that deals with spiritual warfare. The concept is based from the book of Job within the Bible. A God fearing lawyer is being tested at the request of Lucifer. God grants the permission only under two terms; Lucifer may attempt to take everything, but on the man himself he cannot lay a finger; if Nathaniel requests divine help, the angels of heaven will intervene. The Spiritual Trial of Nathaniel Hollandsworth - Porscha Blake

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

I would like to thank God for allowing me to exist. Without him, I wouldn’t be here today. I would like to thank my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, for making it possible for me to be redeemed after all of the mistakes that I’ve made; the Holy Spirit for being my intercessor; and my mother Camille for teaching me about life. Thanks to my sons, Yakez and Isaac, for being my heartbeats and motivation and my grandparents, Robert, Leona, and Margaret, for instilling Christ in me. Thanks to my great-grandmother ma-dear for listening and interacting with me even when she didn’t feel like it. I miss you. Thanks to my step-father, Neville, for showing me what family means, and my younger siblings, DeShawna and Jazzmin, thank you for showing me that just because I’m older doesn’t mean I can’t learn from the younger. Thanks to my dad, Robert, for being understanding and to my uncle Aubrey thanks for being there. I miss you. Thanks to my uncle Randy. I’ll never forget who gave me my first backpack and Hi-C fruit drink. To uncle Pete, thanks for keeping it one hundred. To my nephew Brody, thanks for keeping auntie on her toes. To my best friends, Angel and Chaunta, thanks for being there through the good and the bad. Boy have we been on some roller coaster rides. To my husband, Jerry, though we are currently separated, I do still love you. To Reggie and Claudette, thank you for being an inspiration. I would like to give this last thanks to a couple who has impacted my life tremendously with the word of God. Thank you, Apostle and Prophetess Calvin and Deborah Brown, for coming into my life.

    The Trial Begins

I struggled to give my son life. In effort, I pushed and pushed. But for some reason, he just wouldn’t budge. It probably was the fear of leaving his comfort zone, or maybe he knew what was outside of the bright light. Whichever the case, he needed to come out, and he needed to come out fast. I listened as the heart rate monitor’s alarm increased. My son was in distress.

The baby’s heart rate is dropping!

Come on little guy. Ali, push!

I can’t, it hurts! Please get him out!

She’s hemorrhaging. Get her to the OR now! I’m so sorry, honey, but we’re going to have to do an emergency caesarean.

My daughter is in pain! Can we get a move on it?

I flew down the hallways of Yashua Memorial Hospital with my mother right there beside me. I remember looking ahead into the lights behind the two double doors, wondering if the pain would ever end. I was so afraid. It felt as if I had been in labor for two weeks. After seven hours and twenty-seven minutes, my baby had finally arrived. It wasn’t until after recovery that I got a chance to see and hold my child. I remember the nurse opening the room door.

I have a package for you! she said.

There is only one term that would describe the feeling that I felt—blessed! He was the most beautiful child I had ever seen, and he looked just like his father.

What shall we call him—little Jesse? my mother asked.

    Jesse! Hi little Jesse.

My child stared upon me. I thought about his father and the many nights the two of us prayed for the Lord to bless us with a child. Our baby was truly a present from above. I reflected back to several names within my baby book. The name Nathaniel, however, stood out from amongst the rest. The interpretation of Nathaniel’s name read, A male child born as a gift from God.

You know what, Momma? He does resemble Jesse. But I like the name Nathaniel.

Nathaniel. It does have a nice sound to it.

He’s my little gift from God.

While I held my baby, my mother sang a sweet lullaby. I played with his little hands and kissed him on his cheeks. I was truly in love. As I began to babble baby talk, everything around me suddenly turned black. An aneurysm ruptured in my head, and I died. The medical staff tried desperately to revive me, more times than they should have because of my mother’s urgency. It was my time. At that moment, I wasn’t ready. But when God calls, we must answer. I joined union with my husband Jesse, who had passed away three months earlier.

My mother Anna took my baby in and raised him under the authority of the Lord. Now at thirty-seven, he’s a God-fearing husband, successful lawyer, and father of two. Nathaniel has grown into such a handsome man—a truly distinguished gentleman. I often dropped in on him from time to time. In the midst of visiting my son, I was summoned to the heavens. The Almighty sat on his throne. His son sat to the right. Twelve elders sat to the right of the son, and twelve sat to the left of the Almighty. I wondered what was going on. The archangel Gabriel approached the throne and bowed down.

You have a message? the Almighty asked.

    I do.

The Almighty stuck out his right hand. Proceed!

Gabriel raised his head slightly. Abba, Lucifer has requested the authority to test Nathaniel of Hollandsworth.

There was a delay for about five minutes. The elders looked upon me. Whether or not I grant him the authority, he seems to do whatever he wants. However, he may attempt to take everything, but the man himself he cannot touch, and if my servant prays to me and asks for my assistance, I shall intervene, the Almighty answered.

Gabriel received the message and vanished. I knew what this meant. I must say, fear set in. Alioyah, does not lightning report to I? the Almighty asked. He knew my thoughts.

    Yes, Abba, it does.

Then why do you fear when you see and know the truth? the Son asked.

I apologize for doubting, my Lord; it’s the freewill that concerns me.

The father does not tempt. But there shall be tests. Tests develop perseverance. After perseverance, nothing can harm a man. Come! the Almighty ordered.

I approached the throne and bowed down before he who sat on it. Speak!

One thing about the Almighty is that he read the heart. He knew my question before I asked. Abba, your servant requests permission to be guardian over thy servant, Nathaniel, along with thy servant Jessie.

Have faith, Nathaniel will endure, the Almighty replied.

Because you doubt, you may not interfere. Simbrajia will be Nathaniel’s guardian and Jessie will be the co-guardian, the son added.

Simbrajia was a warrior angel. I called her Simi for short. She often teamed up with the archangel Michael during battles. Because of Lucifer’s request, Simbrajia knew the forces would multiply against her. But she was designed for this very nature. Jessie had been appointed as Nathaniel’s guardian before he was born. Though he didn’t have archangel powers, he had the ability to merge with any archangel
