About this ebook

This book is an autobiography of my life with my brother, Don from my early years growing up in Washington, D.C. as my mother Bernice Augusta along with my father, John H. Adams Sr. for part of the period nurtured, sacrificed and cared for us with meager funds. After separation from my father, my mother struggled even more and for several years twice sent us to Tulsa, Ok, where we were nurtured and given the utmost love, and learned to honor Jesus Christ by my maternal Grandmother, Minnie Mae Guess, who we affectionately called Mama Dear. Quintessentially my greatest fortune in my life was meeting and marrying Helen, who I met at Howard University. As I reflect back on our 52 years of marriage, she was the catalyst for any career success I had in the military and later in the U.S Government and for writing this book. She loved & adored her four children and a committed worshiper of Jesus Christ. However after her passing, I was again so fortunate to meet a gracious and lovely lady, named Rolando who has also accepted me with all of my imperfections and have made my life complete.

FOREWARD FOR VOLUME #II OF MY AUTOBIOGRAPY

This Volume II is a continuation of my life story from the first book (Volume#1), and it for the most part follows a chronology of time sequence and dates. However please be considerate that I have sometimes violated sequential time chronology by elaborating and/ or adding events that I missed including in Volume#1. However I believed that it was important enough to include an event/image irrespective of its actual time occurrence. Again, thank you for your tolerance in my effort to include all poignant events that occurred in my life or impacted it.

    RESPECTFULLY YOURS

JACK (OR AS HELEN CALLED ME

    SOMETIMES PECK’S BAD BOY")

This book is a continuation of my developing my autobiography, which I want to leave as an insight (from my point of view) for the enjoyment, information of my descendants, relatives and friends. It is obviously a subjective resume of the some of the significant and even trivia events which I experienced during my life time. Quintessentially, the two most impactful events in my life was my first date with Helen, and the second was my losing the dearest companion of my almost 52 years of marriage. Helen is the single most influential catalyst and impetus for my writing this autobiography. I wanted to capsulize what she meant to me, our family and how her very positive attitude on life events had a positive affect on all of us, but for me it was the ALL & BE ALL. I was so moved, when she and the family took me to KCI airport to send me off for a year to Korea, and Helen broke down crying at the last minute, which said volumes of what she thought of me!!!

I trust all who read and view the many images will be able to assess or gain some sense of what she meant to me, her family, friends and any person(s) who ever came in contact with her. She was not perfect, but her intractable belief in God and her infectuous laughter was the hallmark of her personality. Although I did not realize at the time, she incrementally help to mold my personality to become a better person.
