My First Trip

In 1947, my friend Hazel and I both worked at Kansas Power and Light in Topeka, Kan. We decided to take a vacation out east with the Berry Tours travel agency (all meals were included). We took a bus to Kansas City, and then we traveled by train and bus to Chicago, where a family with two girls joined the tour.

While on the train headed to New York, we walked through the train cars. In one car, some older ladies who were retired schoolteachers were singing songs.
