    A Message from the President/CEO . . .

The R.H. Boyd Publishing Corporation welcomes you to another quarter of insightful and engaging study. This third quarter of studying during 2018 promises to grow your faith and knowledge of our Lord and His Word. For 122 years, we have been bringing quality Christian literature to the African-American congregation by continuing the vision and dream of our founder, R.H. Boyd. This quarter of study intends to grow God’s Kingdom and continue to create strong Christians driven to live a life of faith and integrity.

The month of July contains five lessons. These lessons will be rooted in the New Testament in the books of Matthew and Luke. They will teach lessons on forgiveness, justice, and being a Christian example.

August has four lessons. These lessons will also be in the New Testament, but not in the gospels. Instead, they will be in Romans, Colossians, and 2 Corinthians. These passages will explain how a Christian should live their life according to God’s will.

Lastly, September’s lessons spend time in the very first book of the Bible, Genesis. These five lessons focus on the story of the creation, continuing to the first sin of Adam and Eve. These lessons will do well to serve as not only a learning moment for our origination, but also a realization that since the beginning of time, we have been in need of a Savior.

We are honored to have the opportunity to continue to come alongside of you during your walk and growth in the Lord. Our most sincere prayer is that you would come closer to God through this study and use this book as an aid in your personal, daily ministry in serving the Lord. May the Lord prepare your heart as you dive in to another quarter of study of God’s Word.

    In His Service,

    LaDonna Boyd

    President/CEO

    QUARTERLY OVERVIEW

The study this quarter focuses on justice as presented in the New Testament. Justice is portrayed as a primary characteristic of God’s nature. Human beings are called to emulate God’s justice toward one another.

Unit 1—July Jesus Calls for Fairness and Kindness

In Unit I, Jesus Calls for Fairness and Kindness, five lessons from the New Testament books of Matthew and Luke will be studied. The first two lessons will come from Matthew and will analyze what Jesus calls us to do regarding forgiveness and being an example of our own teaching. The last three lessons are taken from the book of Luke. In these lessons, we will learn about God’s view on justice, the wealthy and salvation, and those who will inherit the Kingdom of God.

Unit 2—August Paul Teaches About Living like Jesus

In Unit II, Paul Teaches About Living Like Jesus, we will study four lessons from the letters of Paul in the New Testament books of Romans, 2 Corinthians, and Colossians. The first two lessons come from Romans and 2 Corinthians and will look at what Paul tells us to do regarding how we should judge and also how we should give. The last two lessons, from Romans and Colossians, will analyze Paul’s teachings regarding how to love and how to make peace as Christians.

Unit 3—September God Created the World

In Unit III, God Created the World, we have the opportunity to study the first three chapters of Genesis over a period of five weeks. The first three weeks tell the creation story and God’s purposes in His design. The last two weeks analyze the creation of the family and the first sin committed by Adam and Eve.
