    Synopsis

Thea is walking in her garden when she’s abducted. Carried away by an infuriating incubus demon, she’s dismayed when she finds herself attracted to the sexy male.

Bernt is in need of magical aid. The answer? Steal a sorceress. What he doesn’t count on is the stunning beauty of the female who will help him. Neither does he reckon on her spirit. Blindsided and intrigued, he takes her home, securing her within the boundaries of his town.

Under his possession, Bernt will stop at nothing to tempt her into helping him, even as she entices him with her beautiful will. But as Thea starts to fall for the incubus, can she believe that he really wants her and not just her power?

    Chapter One

She’d made it so easy for him.

He watched from the night black of the forest that bordered her property. A weak defense, and all that stood between him and his prey.

They’d relied too heavily on the magical barrier that hemmed them in, not realizing that he would stop at nothing to get through. That he would search for as long as it took for the smallest flaw in their invisible wall.

Then he’d found it. A rip. Tiny. No more than a broken stitch, but enough. He’d widened it and slipped inside. The wall had disintegrated as though it had never been.

He watched with interest as she slammed out of the mansion.

Don’t you dare follow me. She commanded her guards to stay behind with a pointed finger. With a swirl of hair, she spun angrily away from them.

A guard froze on the doorstep, uncertainty clear in the lines of his frown, and his darting gaze. Eventually he retreated inside.

Bernt’s shock at their lax security was nothing compared to the face-plant he took at his first sight of her.

He leaned forward, his eyes glassy, his lips parted, and for a single clear moment, the world around him stilled along with his heartbeat.

He’d heard the rumors. The ones that described her as hideous. They didn’t mesh with what he was seeing as he watched her strolling through the manicured gardens, as easy to pick as a flower.

    No one to protect her.

The reality—that she was more beautiful than anything he’d ever seen—had his eyes bonded to her every step, every reveal of that long shapely leg peeking out from the slit of her emerald dress. The gown followed the elegant contours of her body, clinging to breasts that would be a perfect handful. Her skin, softer than the silk concealing her luscious curves, glowed in the moonlight, a radiating contrast to the onyx waves of her hair.

Her style was simple: no large jewels. Only a plain silver band decorated her wrist and trapped the burn of the stars. It caught his eye, and led his gaze along the slender line of her bare arm, over delicate shoulders, and back to those high, full breasts. No heavy makeup, just shining pink lips, full and pouting. The kind of lips that induced the most wicked fantasies in a man’s mind.

    Shit, she was stunning.

Everyone knew the tales of the elder who ran from her own people and joined with a race of demons. Recently, stories had reached Bernt of the sorceress, out of place and guarded by a horde of them, weaving magic in their name.

Power radiated from her, and he knew he’d found her. He could feel it. She was who he was looking for.

This was the female who would help him.

Unique and unlike any elder he’d seen before, she glowed with a vitality that ensured his gaze was locked on her.

Bernt itched with the need to touch her, stroke her. Taste her.

The yearning infused him, right down to his bones, with energy that he hadn’t felt for a long time, and dulled the ache that had racked his body for so long.

The reckless needs of a desperate male fortified him with the determination to face a being as ancient and as powerful as she was rumored to be.

He slipped out from the darkness, creeping through the shadows, to find a position to cut her off as she passed. The crunch of gravel beneath her sandaled feet was a whispering announcement of her approach, and the hushed steps made the slamming of the door behind her a reverberating thunder that had the sorceress spinning round.

With her back turned to him, he chose that moment to steal from his hiding place. The soft sigh she uttered at the sight of a guard emerging from the house turned to a shaky gasp when Bernt’s arms fused around her. His breath blowing into her hair, he hauled her up against him.

For a single second, she was too stunned to react. It didn’t last.

She jerked her head back, nearly dislodging his front teeth. Then, with impressive strength for such a hot little package, she wriggled violently for freedom.

Let go of me, she demanded in a breathless whisper. She sucked in a breath, but before she could release the shout Bernt was sure was coming, he slapped his hand over her mouth.

Shit, he exclaimed in a whisper, yanking it back. She’d bitten him. You little minx. He spoke with a dawning surprise.

An attack with her powers…he was prepared for that. He had a few secret weapons up his sleeve if she tried to use magic on him. He hadn’t expected her to bite him.

She ignored him and shouted, Let go of me!

Damn it. There was no way the guards hadn’t heard her that time. He needed to get her out of there. Now.

Squirming and kicking for freedom, her body writhed against him a little too tightly, her ass jutting into his crotch and sending the blood rushing to his cock. He tightened his hold around her, pinning her arms to her side, and tried to ignore the soft impression of her breasts against his arm.

Lady, hold still. His deep voice was almost a growl.

Go to hell. She stomped on his foot.

It didn’t make much of a dent through his thick black boots, but that seemed like the right time to hoist her up onto his shoulder and carry her off.

    Let me go!

Her pounding little fists were little more than taps against his muscled back, but he still smacked his hand against her ass. Not hard enough to hurt, but enough to shock her into immobility. It lasted for about two seconds.

You did not just spank me, she shrieked, banging her fists against him again. He had, and it was a mistake because that one touch affected him. His shaft throbbed, straining against the zipper of his jeans.

She was warm beneath his hands, and soft in such sweet places. Under the tissue-thin fabric of her dress, her muscles and skin moved against his palm, and the feel of his hand against her supple butt cheek made him want to set her down to get
