A Holistic Treatise On Overpopulation
()
About this ebook
Rising world population is often mentioned as a key factor impacting the environment. But there is more to a rising world population.
A Holistic Treatise on Overpopulation is shining a light on overpopulation from all possible angles: environmental impacts, a critical review of food and resource security, quality of life, rising inequality, migration, developmental problems of large families, cultural bias, affordability of longevity, rights and ethics. The book is addressing problems in both the developed and developing world. The world needs a coherent ethical and legal framework to limit the fertility rate to no more than two children per woman. This should first start in the developed world, by introducing a tax for people who want more than two children, progressive with the number of children and income, to prevent rich people from showing off with large trophy families.
Michiel Stofferis
Michiel Stofferis grew up in a rural part of The Netherlands. With a passion for geology, he pursued a career in the oil industry but always wondered why people hardly recognise the strong link between increased hydrocarbon use, growing affluence and consequent rising world population. Michiel has been influenced by environmental writers and has a keen interest in planetary sustainability, inequality and the evolution of mankind through the ages. Currently he is concerned about how people deal with moral dilemmas and fairness.
