Gus will always remember the first time he saw them. He had moved to Honolulu immediately after graduating from high school on a basketball scholarship at the University of Hawaii. The white jock is a promising ‘point guard’ at six foot five tall, slim athletic build, with blonde hair and blue eyes. While Gus won’t begin his freshman year until September, he found a decent job, as he needs the money. A side benefit, his employer, provided membership at a fancy local gym, one he couldn’t have afforded otherwise, and he couldn’t start using the college gym until officially enrolled. Being an athlete, Gus needs to keep in the best condition he can as his scholarship depends on it.

The blonde jock is running briskly on a treadmill one day when a class gets out in an upstairs studio. About two dozen women and a smattering of men came down the stairs followed by several women talking animatedly to a striking rail-thin brunette of Hawaiian heritage. Standing next to her is a younger woman with the same color hair, features, and same impressive build. Both wore skin-hugging leotards identical in style, although differing in color. As the group of women moves across the room, Gus overheard enough of the conversation to understand the sexy older woman had been leading a Pilate’s class.

After their entourage dispersed, the two women linger at the front counter talking to the attendant when the younger one notices Gus checking them out. Busted, he gives the women his best ‘you-caught-me’ grin. The younger woman smiles, said something to the older one, who turns, holds his gaze for a beat, before returning her focus to her companions. A few minutes later, they left.

After finishing with the treadmill, Gus went to the front desk. The older woman, he discovered, is Jackie Portman who taught several classes at the gym. The younger one is her daughter Kelly, an eighteen-year-old senior high school student. The male attendant made it clear Gus isn’t the first man who asked about them. Gus checked the schedule; Jackie is down to lead a steps class in a couple of days.
