FOREWORD
It’s nice to take a detour through the countryside. Making a trip is far more appealing and enjoyable than heading straight to the big city. The small town charm, finest food; the beautiful scenery, friendly people, and peace and tranquility, are all at your disposal. Take an impulse to the good life; become farmer ‘John’, and go on the road. Let life pamper you. Yes, jeans are a dress code in our neighborhood. This book is a way of showing you what small town life and living has to offer. Be bold, be adventurous, and let us take care of you. Don’t bring quarters; we don’t bother with parking meters.
Join the new wave and become a Foodie. The earliest travel and foodie experience was recorded some 2.300 years ago by Herodot on Halikarnassos of Greek descent. He traveled extensively in the Far East and Africa. The actual Foodie era began around 1782 when Top Chefs lost their positions preparing fests for kings and other royalty due to prolonged warfare. The Grande Taverne de Londres in Paris was opened and could be considered the first official luxurious restaurant catering to an upscale society. Today, many first class restaurants have been opened by talented chefs providing a rich variety of fresh and scrumptious meals delightfully presented to satisfy even the most demanding customer. According to the AAA Magazine Westway’s a study found that an estimated 22 million Americans plan to take a palate-pleasing trip. It is an important role in their travel experience to taste mouthwatering and nutritious culinary gourmet food that rural areas have to offer. Let your eyes feast on the atmosphere while the smell of fresh food lingers in the air. Tulare County, California, is also known as ‘the Orange Belt’ because of its abundance of citrus farming. Feel like a cowboy, hug a horse, milk a cow, go fishing, or simply count sheep while the dazzling display and whiff of orange blossoms soothe you into contentment.
There are nearly unlimited Foodie trips available in Europe, on cruise ships, or railways to improve your culinary appreciation. So, why not come to the California source where it all started. It is grown or raised here, right in our neighborhood. If your kids believe that ‘food’ comes from the supermarket, show them the real thing. Show them the wonders of nature. There is more to life than frozen food. Be ready to go for: Fresh Air, and Fresh Food, and Fresh Attitude = Life. Live it the best way possible.
Some of our best restaurants and entertainment businesses welcome you and look forward to greeting you with our legendary hospitality. Spend your vacation here or stop on your way to the National Parks.
Our history runs deep. Our four seasons are exciting. From the early fruit blossoms to harvest time there are always fresh fruit stands, festivals, and numerous adventures and activities. Don’t
