About this ebook

Presented for the first time in full color, award-winning writer Etgar Keret (The Seven Good Years) and Eisner Award-winning cartoonist Asaf Hanuka’s (The Realist) powerful graphic novel, Pizzeria Kamikaze, is a most unexpected story of love, loss, and escape. Mordy wanted to get away. Now condemned to an afterlife exclusively for all victims of suicide, he still has to attend a crappy job in a place no less crappy than the place he came from. When he discovers that his beloved ex-girlfriend is there too, he embarks on much needed road trip through an absurdist and fantastical landscape to find her.

A good story by Keret, but the potential of the graphic novel format is somewhat wasted.

This is one of the better graphic novel versions I have seen of Keret's work (this one adapted from his story "Kneller's Happy Campers") and it's probably the best of his stories to illustrate since most of the others are too suggestive to easily adapt to the format. I really like that they used a silver color instead of grey as it gives the drawings an extra layer of fantasy. That said, I can't really get my head around the reason for the adaptation - Keret's stories are just perfect the way they are. Btw, does anyone know why they made Kneller's dog into a cat in this version??
