    Chapter One

The sun shined high in the sky as the leaves swayed in the air. The once greenery of Western Creek had gone away, now held in its place was the dark colors of autumn. The land was mystified with new colors as the browns, oranges and burned colors filtered throughout the beloved creek. The winds whirled all over the field with a single lotus flower. Birds chirped loudly as they began to get ready for the night.

The lotus flower shimmered against the sun’s rays. Flickers of life whistled from the gracious flower as it began to shift in its stance. Large trees in different angles began to hum with the wind, for the lotus flower was calling out to the land. The leaves from the other trees soared through the air then onto grass near the lotus flower.

In the distance, a woman with long fiery hair floated with the wind. She wore a green dress and her emerald eyes gazed upon the lotus flower. Her pale skin was that of milk honey and her cherry-red lips appeared luscious of sweet cranberries from the spring’s first pick. She held her hands together, yet they were translucent. The wind floated all around to kiss the maiden. She turned her head then disappeared, yet an angelic voice began to sing.

"I can’t look away, for there is too much to say.

The waters of secrets call out.

I hear the sounds of nature.

I am reminded of the past that I can’t recall onto it.

I can’t look away, for there is too much to say.
