One year ago, on the morning of November 1st, in the woods of New Sumer, the bodies of the most popular students from high school had been found. The police reports seems to suggest that they all been viciously killed by a pack of wild animals on Halloween Night. But one person knows the truth on who was behind the deaths of all those jocks and cheerleaders who had been partying out that night in the woods. One person who had witnessed them getting massacred that very same frightful night. One person who would keep his mouth shut, out of fear, and pays the price for it, by suffering hauntings from terrifying apparitions.

One year later, Barry Norton leaves the city and moves with his family to New Sumer. To make matters worse, he is not only the new kid in town. He also happens to be the only jock. He fears he won't be making new friends in New Sumer High School, as the only cliques hanging around, apart from the now-deceased popular students, are the nerds, geeks, goths and everyone else. But all is not lost for Barry, as there is a girl in school who fancies him, and lucky for him, the feeling seems mutual.

As Barry tries adjusting to his new life in New Sumer, strange things happen to him. He has visions and nightmares of people getting killed by something very terrifying. He is also being haunted by ghosts of the past, warning him that whatever was responsible for killing all those high school students last Hallowen Night, was coming for him. And since Barry moved into New Sumer, the killings started again. Desperate to save his own neck, he turns to an Ouija board, hoping to find out the truth, before he becomes the next victim.

What Happened Last Halloween Night - Jules Fier

    1

    Prologue

    One Year Ago

    Last Halloween

The full moon shone very bright up on the night sky. It’s reflection could be seen on the surface of the lake. If it weren’t for the owls hooting, it would just have seemed tranquil, rather than haunting.

But what also made it more haunting was that it was also the scariest night of the year.

In fact it was the scariest night for every year.

It was the night of all nights.

It was the 31st of October.

    It was All Hallow’s Eve.

    It was Halloween Night.

Tonight some high school kids were behaving crazy, drinking and smoking. Expensive-looking cars were parked by pine trees, as the lake itself was situated within some woods.

But they weren’t just high school kids.

They were the the top dogs of high school.

They were the kids everyone else worshipped.

They were the kings and queens of prom night.

    They were the envied.

    They were also the respected.

    They were the popular kids.

Right now they were teams of couples making out on the forest ground, not far from the banks by the lake.

Right now they were drinking, filling their surroundings with empty can litters.

Right now they were excited careless teenagers, coming back from their skinny dipping.

Right now they were just making noises and screaming at the top of their lungs, as if they owned the world.

Right now all they just wanted to have a good time.

Right now they just didn’t care, of whatever the consequences that may arise from their actions later on.

These kids, after all, were spoiled. Very often.

    They cared about nobody.

    Except themselves.

They always did what they wanted, because they knew they could get away with it. In fact they always got away with it. They didn’t care about other people’ feelings.

    Especially other students’ feelings.

    Especially those who weren’t popular.

To those who despised their popularity, they had many names.

    Jocks.

    Airheads.

    Cheerleaders.

One particular jock named Aaron was making out with his Blonde cheerleader girlfriend Kris. Aaron had a good future ahead of him.

After all, he was a quarterback. As they were making out, he instinctively pushed her away from him.

He detached his lips from hers.

Do you hear that??? Aaron asked Kris.

Hear what???? Kris asked in a confused manner.

I keep on hearing all these sounds, like someone is popping up balloons!!! complained Aaron.

I don’t hear anything!!! whined Kris.

Aaron had very sensitive ears, and often heard things very well.

    Even from afar.

Aaron what’s your problem??? Kris cried angrily, being extremely confused and annoyed at the same time.

Aaron was looking around, surrounded by darkness in the woods, in the same woods all these high school students were in.

    Something caught Aaron’s eyes.

Something that made his heart boil, with anger.

Hey you there. What do you think you’re doing???? Aaron screamed angrily.

Aaron got up from the ground, moving away from Kris.

He was rushing with quick athletic speed towards a certain direction.

He was headed towards one of the their cars, a BMW, that was parked by a tree.

A stranger, all dressed up in some kind of hood, was kneeling and bending by one of the front tires.

Aaron could see what the hooded stranger was doing.

He was slashing that particular car tire.

As Aaron was nearing both the car and the hooded stranger, he could see and hear the slashed car tire making a loud whooshing noise.

Aaron could see the BMW’s tire slowly flattening up.

Aaron’s heart was raging. He was boiling.

I am going to pounce the crap out of this weirdo!!!!, Aaron thought.

He figured that this was one of the losers from high school, who was probably spying on them the whole time.

I am going to give you one Halloween night you’re never ever going to forget!!! Aaron threatening the hooded stranger.

Aaron clenched his right fist really tightly.

The hooded stranger started standing up straight.

Kris was watching everything from where she was.

Kris quickly got off the ground.

Kris stared at both her boyfriend and the hooded stranger.

She couldn’t see the face and the figure reminded her of some kind of robed monk.

She felt something didn’t seem right.

    About this hooded figure.

    She could sense it.

Kris looked at the rest of her friends.

Kris looked at all the other ‘popular kids’.

They were oblivious to what was going on, just making out, drinking and deeply engaged within their own small world.

She wanted to tell the rest of them what was going on.

She then turned to look back at Aaron and the hooded stranger.

But as Kris turned back to face the direction where her boyfriend was, her heart froze.

She was, all of a sudden, mesmerized.

On the air, she saw something flying towards her.

Instinctively she grabbed it, knocking her backwards to the ground, as if a football had been thrown to her.

What she was holding in her hands, was causing her to scream at the top of her lungs.

It was the severed bloodied head of her boyfriend.

It was the severed bloodied head of Aaron.

All eyes were now turned to Kris.

    And the hooded robed figure.

The hooded robed figure was walking towards them.

    Towards all of them.

Kris kept screaming, instantly dropping the head, and shifting her gaze instead to Aaron’s killer. Kris, and the rest of her peers, had their eyes glued the person who had just murdered Aaron.

But no one was doing anything.

Despite the fact that they heavily outnumbered this hooded murderer, they were all scared.

As to why they were scared, was because the figure had just removed the top part of the hood.

They all saw the true face of Aaron’s murderer.

    Aaron’s murderer was not a ‘ person.’

Aaron’s murderer was some kind of monster.

It was a monster, that started growling and snarling.

It and snarled so loud, that the entire forest would hear its roaring.

    It’s eyes.

    They were full of malice.

    They looked evil.

And Kris was no longer screaming alone.

The rest of her friends were screaming as well.

    They started screaming........and running.

    Running for their lives.

Before Halloween Night would be over, the forest pine trees and nocturnal animals would hear the sounds and screams coming from those kids who were out on the woods that night.

They would spend the entire time before dawn, trying to save their own necks, running and hiding.

Whatever it was that was stalking them, was a professional hunter.

    It was a professional predator.

    It was a professional killer.

No one would hear their screams.

No one would come to save them.

And not one of them would make it out alive, before the night is over.

After all, none of the town adults would know they were even there.

The town adults were busy with their own Halloween parties, dressed up in all kinds and sorts of costumes.

The parents from these kids were so busy having such good time, that they did not even bother to check their cell phones.

They did not bother to see if they had gotten any calls or text messages from their own kids. They did not see the missed calls and text messages.

They did not see the cries for help.

But on the 1st of November, and the days to come, the entire town would know what had happened to the most popular kids from school.

Their bodies would be found all over the woods.

    Chapter 1

    One Month Later

    Jeremy McAllister woke up.

    Sweating.

He looked all around him .

    Dark inside his bedroom.

    He sighed, with relief.

He was safe inside his own bedroom.

    Safe beneath the blankets.

Only thing he was aware of was silence.

    Silence inside the bedroom.

All he could hear was the alarm clock ticking beside his bed.

And his own heart beating really really fast.

    He had just woken up.

    From a nightmare.

A nightmare he had been having every night.

    For a month.

He looked towards his bedroom window.

The curtains had been pulled over the window.

His heart was beating a little bit slower.

    He knew he was safe.

    Or rather felt safe.

He got up from his bed, turning on the bedroom light switch.

He felt he needed to turn the lights on.

He started looking all over his room.

His eyes caught one of his own portraits hanging on the wall.

And then he caught another one.

    And another one.

In fact his wall was full of his portraits.

    This brought joy to himself.

He was smiling happily, with his curly brown hair waved up and his

    brown eyes seeming self-satisfactorily.

    He smiled to himself.

He had won many board game and card game tournaments and competitions.

But as he looked around him, there were other things inside his bedroom. Ones that reminded him once more of his nightmares. He could see his binoculars on one of his bookshelf’s empty rack.

    They were night vision binoculars.

The same ones he used during Halloween Night.

    Just last month.

The same ones he had used to spy on those popular kids.

    From afar.

From a safe distance, within the very same woods.

On the night they were murdered.

The very same Halloween night when they all got butchered.

    Like lambs.

    He was a witness.

On the night they got murdered.

Even though he was far away, too far to have heard their screams and cries for help, he could have sworn he heard them.

He could have sworn hearing them, while watching them run at the same time.

    Running for their lives.

He started fleeing from the scene too, to save his own neck.

He wished he had never been there to see it.

He never even told another soul about that night.

    That night of horror.

The worst night of his life.

On the 1st of November, the police found the bodies of all those students. All over the woods.

Police and medical news, as well as the news, would claim that all the students had been attacked and killed by wild animals.

That they were killed by a pack of cougars.

    But Jeremy knew better.

    Jeremy knew the truth.

He sometimes wished he was not there to have been a witness.

He sometimes wished he had not ordered those stupid night vision

    binoculars.

If it hadn’t been for those same night vision binoculars, it wasn’t only that he wouldn’t have seen their deaths.

He also would not have known who their killer was.

    What their killer was.

    What their killer looked liked.

He saw what their killed looked like.

    With his own eyes.

Their killer was not a man.

Their killer was some kind of monster.

    Literally.

And to make matters worst, his eyes and mind would not let him forget what he saw.

Apart from his portraits, there was something else hanging on his

    bedroom wall.

    A bulletin board.

    Full of pinned-up pencil drawings.

    Pencil drawings he had made.

Pencil drawings of what he saw that night.

Pencil drawings of what killed those kids that night.

    Pencil drawings of the monster.

    Chapter 2

    One Year Later

    Day Of The Threat

    Night Time

    It was already night time.

He already had finished his dinner earlier.

He hadn’t been that successful doing this before, because he

    did it during the day.

Now he was doing it again.

Only this time, he was doing it during the night.

It was also quite creepy too.

Barry had just lit his last candle, with his own plastic butane lighter. He put it down, right next to him.

The candles were placed around the Ouija board.

He switched the bedroom lights off, leaving the candle flames to be his only source of light.

He had never been more scared to be in his own bedroom.

This is like the horror movies!!!!, he thought.

He always imagined that he was going to be communicating with some spirits. And the one that he might summon, could be an evil one.

Bedroom window was closed, with curtains pulled over.

He then sat cross-legged by the board, putting fingertips on the planchette.

Barry looked at the wall were his dreamcatcher was supposed to be hanging. He had to put it outside, for now.

He also told his parents that he didn’t want to be disturbed.

    Barry tried staying focus.

    He was breathing in.

    He was breathing out.

    He was breathing in again.

    He was breathing out again.

He wished he had friends to do this with.

Abby Walsh, if he now considered her a friend, was probably still working at Sam’s Diner. He knew she sometimes did night shifts.

He didn’t know the Jacobson kids that well, nor did he even really hung out with them. He even thought of approaching some of the gothic students, even the ones from his classes, but they were probably going to give him the cold shoulder.

Ever since he attended New Sumer High School, he ceased being ‘the popular kid’. That wasn’t the case, back at his old school.

It was nice to have been a part of the most popular clique at school. The ones from New Sumer High, were already dead.

    He knew who killed them!!!!

Is there a spirit in the room with me here tonight???? Barry asked out loud.

The planchette moved, dragging Barry’s fingertips with it, resting its window hole on the marked word YES.

    Chapter 3

    Two Weeks Earlier

What’s this town called again?? Barry yelling at his mom downstairs, from the upper hallway bathroom.

Barry Norton had just finished washing up in his face in front of the

mirror. He looked at himself in the mirror. He was a good looking kid; short cropped blond hair, blue eyes, tall and athletic enough to be a great football player.

They all loved you back there!!!!!, he thought egotistically to himself.

    He missed the big city.

    He missed his old clique.

He missed his old high school, where he was some kind of star.

    One of the stars.

This town is called New Sumer!!!! his mom yelling back from downstairs.

And all the girls wanted to go out with you!! Barry mumbling to

    himself.

He was aware that a lot of girls from his old high school fell high over heels for him.

They wished to be with him.

He had been aware of that.

    He had known that.

Barry left the bathroom and headed back the very same room upstairs where all his belongings were.

    His new bedroom.

Earlier he had been unpacking the rest of his stuff.

He walked towards the bedroom window, looking outside.

He had the view of the forest.

    The pine trees looked tall.

    The pine trees looked menacing.

    Frightening.

It was as if they were trying to warn him to stay away.

Barry then turned his view, to the rest of his bedroom.

It was a large comfy-looking bedroom.

But something did not feel right. If it is ok with you guys, I am going out for a drive!! Barry yelling back downstairs to his parents.

Well go have fun exploring!! Might as well go grab yourself something to bite!!! his dad yelled.

Yeah I think I am gonna do that!! Barry responded.

Just be back in time for dinner!! his mom yelled.

    Barry got himself ready.

    Ready to go out.

But before he left the bedroom, he took one last glance at the inside interior.

His parents had been happy to move into their new home.

His parents were happy to be in New Sumer.

But for some reason, Barry didn’t.

Living here doesn’t feel right!!!!, he thought.

He felt he was being irrational.

He went towards the bedroom window, having one last glance at the woods. And then at his surroundings inside his new bedroom.

Ok I’m outta here!! Barry yelled out, as he walked out, closing the bedroom door behind him.

He needed to get away from the bedroom.

He needed to get away from the house.

    He felt something was wrong.

As if he was being watched.

    Chapter 4

Barry could feel the wind the blowing against his face. He was driving across the town’s highway, with the driver’s window open. The air felt breezy. The air felt a lot fresher, compared to what he was used to,

    back in the big city.

From time to time, he would take a glance at either side of the road. On either side of the highway, he saw lots of green fields and lots of pine

    trees.

For some strange reason he felt afraid of the forest.

It was as if he knew something could be lurking there.

    Some kind of monster.

    You’re being silly!!!!, Barry thought.

Barry kept his eyes focused on the road, until he spotted something he was looking for.

    A diner.

He could also see the two neon-lighted plaque signs.

    The first sign said:

    SAM’S DINER

    The second sign said:

    OPEN 24 HOURS

There was also a third sign. But it was not a neon-lighted plaque. It was a 1950s-style retro American diner design plaque. It had the image of a mustard
