    Chapter One

    Going to Shamway

`Amazing…Brilliant, Oh… I can’t wait! Andy whooped. It’s fantastic, thanks mum, thanks dad, three whole weeks away! His brother Chris shrieked, and punched the air with glee. He then proceeded to hug both his parents in turn. Blackie, their pet dog careered around in circles barking incessantly, joining in the excitement.

Mr and Mrs Smythe had just told their ten year old twins that they were going on their own summer holiday this year. It would be to stay on the Scottish island of Shamway with Grandma and Grandad.

The best news about this holiday was that it would take place in under a week, so there was a lot of last minute organising to do.

As soon as the errand was done they stopped off at the corner shop even though it was near closing time. Here they planned to buy an ice cream each and one for Blackie.

Hello lads, said Mrs. Bennett the shop keeper, she stepped out from behind the card stand where she had been sorting the merchandise.

Hello, replied the boys as they delved into the ice-cream freezer.

I hear you are off on your holidays tomorrow and staying in bonny Scotland too, she said with a smile.

Yes that’s correct, with our grandparents, said Andy. He handed her the ice-creams.

Our grandad said he’d take us fishing, said Chris with a big grin on his face, And we’re to help paint his boat, he added.

"Well sounds like you’re going to be busy then, you’ll need a rest when
