About this ebook

Gillian Darby took a ride in the country to pick apples for a pie. She never expected to end up dropping into a whole other realm, apparently as the birthday gift for a unicorn prince. Gillian is an adventurous girl, and takes up the offer of the sexy man with the thick white tail to become his consort for the day in exchange for a basket of magical fruit. Being a chef with an eye toward fame, she was certain she was on her way and had made a very shrewd deal.

But a lusty satyr named Hamlin, a fire-fairy named Vannora who wields a demanding crop, and an afternoon of “consort-pony training” has Gillian thinking maybe making a deal in the fairy kingdom wasn’t quite what she expected. Yet, submission to the attractive, virile unicorn prince might not be so bad. But the handcuffs and the matching white tail accessory he presents to her might be another matter entirely...

Adrianna Dane

Adrianna Dane has been putting pen to paper since the age of ten. She currently resides in the state of Washington. She has a great fondness for using a fountain pen when writing her first drafts. Hobby interests are varied, including photography and traveling. The first defining love story Adrianna read back in junior high school was "Wuthering Heights" by Emily Bronte, and that set her on the road to her long-standing love affair with books of all genres. Her inspiration in writing often can be found by listening to song lyrics, from hard rock to classical, and reading poetry by such poets as Elizabeth Barrett Browning, Edgar Allen Poe, and Ranier Maria Rilke. But finding inspiration for her stories truly has no boundaries for Adrianna. In 2006, her dark fantasy GLBT story, Body Parts, won its category in the Dream Realm Awards. Adrianna has written more than 100 stories, short, novella, and novel length, delving into many facets of the human condition - contemporary, futuristic, and fantasy, and all the flavors therein and in between. In other words, wherever the story and the characters, as well as their intricate stories, take her imagination, then her pen and/or computer keyboard, are sure to follow.

    Chapter One

Adventure wasn’t in Gillian’s mind today as she drove out to the country to pick apples. Stress relief was, and making the two-hour drive to this part of rural Washington to personally decide on each piece of fruit she used in her prize-winning pies and apple jelly was, for her, calming. She’d read about this orchard and vegetable farm in a copy of one of her favorite cooking magazines, Chef’s Passion, and with it being only a few hours away, decided to see for herself if its reputation was warranted. It seemed odd that she’d never heard of this town before she read the article, but didn’t worry too much about it. She liked discovering new out-of-the-ordinary places.

Five miles from the small town of Unnikorn Kove she spotted the sign. Apparently, she’d picked an interesting weekend for this trip. Today there was a street fair going on. She loved the festive atmosphere at events like that, and often located craftspeople whose wares she added to the inventory of her shop in Seattle. It was going to be a wonderful weekend.

Getting out of the city for an adventure on her own was the best idea she’d had in a long time. She’d been stressed and short with her employees lately, which did not bode well for the smooth running of operations at the bakery/restaurant cum gift shop. It was the latest negotiations with the bank and the anticipated expansion and distribution of her bakery products that had her off-kilter. Let alone just yesterday the producer at a local television station had contacted her about the opportunity to host her own show. Everything seemed to come tumbling at her all at once. She had desperately needed to get away from the pressure of weighty decision-making and clear her head.

If she went through with the expansion and the complicated avenue of moving her business into a corporate structure with an eye to public offerings of corporate stock, she was very likely to lose control of what had started out as a small, personal enterprise. She was nervous as a calico cat with sensitive paws trying to navigate a hot tin roof.

The business was her baby. She had nursed it carefully from the moment she had first dreamed about it back in high school. One false step could mean she would lose everything. Everyone wanted her to stop dragging her feet and decide one way
