    Summary

    Foreword

According to His divine plan, God, in Old Testament times, gave uncommon revelations to His prophets and performed mighty works through many other individuals as well.

The works of God through Noah, Enoch, and other Old Testament saints have been of great interest to Dr. Henry. He has searched out these revelations and performances of God in those times and has brought them together in this unique presentation.

Dr. Henry has been a committed Christian and teacher of the Word for more than thirty years. Over the years, he has been passionate about sharing his knowledge and understanding in Bible school. In this book, he has written on his favourite topic: God’s uncommon acts through His chosen vessels in olden times.

This book can be of encouragement to us in our Christian walk by revealing to us the greatness of God in Old Testament times. What He has done in the past, through willing and yielded vessels, He can do through us today in bringing forth His Kingdom.

    Introduction

Acts of God in the Life of Ordinary Men

As a faith-based individual, my personal faith plays a very important role in how I understand my humanity and my personal relationship with the world in which I live. I operate in the sphere of my belief system and spiritual experience. On this basis I have been impressed by biblical knowledge and the accuracy of the inerrant word of God. This position developed my faith, and sustains my Christian walk. It is with this conviction that I have been inspired to delve into the phenomenon of the uncommon in the biblical accounts.

Since I have been a committed Christian for the last thirty years, I am not doing this for any other reason but to bring glory to the Lord’s work, to shine a light to those whose view has been obscured by ignorance or personal bias, cultural preference or lack of biblical experience or knowledge. Perhaps what is more important is to encourage young believers to stand up in the Lord.

Here, then, is the introduction from God’s standpoint: of all the created terrestrial beings, God made man the most intelligent and as such, God has made man with a will.

Freedom of choice is a gift; however, bad choices by Adam and Eve predicated the downward spiral of the human race, away from the harmonious God/man relationship that existed prior to the fall.

The fallen state of man opened the door for several sporadic but necessary, uncommon but powerful occurrences, spaced throughout biblical history. These divinely directed events capture the essence of a loving, caring God’s care for his creation on every level.

My aim is to use these uncommon experiences as I can, through the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, to help my readers. As 2 Peter 3:9 states, the Lord is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

Since God knows of the depravity of the heart of man, God in his omniscience constantly monitors the progress, stagnation, or regression of man, for the purpose of depositing some revelation of Himself to provide a way to recapture the heart of man. God engages man in a unique and uncommon interaction.

Whether man’s participation in these events is conscious or unwitting, God initiates the process. In the post-Eden world, the fallen generation of Adam experienced God’s uncommon grace towards the infantile human race, which fumbled and bumbled around like a drunken man in a proverbial stupor. The account in Genesis indicates that man was innocent in his pre-fall experience. In this pure and tranquil existence there were immediate benefits: the most harmonious relationship with the Creator, longevity of life, and dominion over everything. Man was meant to live perpetually, enjoying all the benefits of
