    Introduction

The aim of this book is to try to explain some of the most interesting discoveries that humans made about their Mind, thoughts and emotions. Mind Scientist Syed Mazhar Uddin Taj will cover the perspective of modern sciences like neurology and psychology, but also the techniques like Buddhist Anapanasati or mindfulness of breathing, Vipassana insight meditation, energy alchemy, power of visualization, lucid dreaming, practices of South American Shamans and Naguals such as Stalking, art of Dreaming, recapitulation and more. These practices are great starting point for any brave Mind explorer and meditator, so please feel free to test and enjoy them for at least few months to see the results. First take them as interesting hypothesis and then prove them through experiments in your body, mind and everyday life. It will be amazing and mysterious journey with the goal to awake your hidden and dormant abilities of Mind, transform conflicting energies and emotions, improve your health, relationships and communication with other people, attain great happiness and bliss, and finally to expand your perception of Reality.

The final resolutions to many mysteries of Mind and Consciousness are still open and there are many debates between science researchers and people who are practicing various techniques to awaken their Mind. And while they agree on many things, there are even more things that they don’t agree on. This conflict is normal, as they all use sometimes different and sometimes similar tools and methods to explore these mysteries, but the main question is: What is more important for regular people in order to implement these discoveries in their everyday life? Or even to a more advanced practitioners and Mind explorers? It is obvious that regular people don’t have expensive equipment that scientist have. But scientists are usually trying very hard to explain some secrets of human body and mind, while people can perform many of these secrets without knowing the theory behind it. And that is a great advantage for them!

It means, that you can use your body and Mind every day and experience many amazing things directly, and if you want to make some theories or models about it, you can do that too, as a bonus. But, you will soon realize, that if you create a quality model or hypothesis, you can check it in practice and even discover some new capabilities that you have. So the circle between theory and practice continues.

Recapitulation Practice of South American Shamans and Naguals

Testing hypothesis in practice or even doing proper practice without even thinking about explaining the deeper mechanisms behind it, was also the main point of the teachings of Don Huan and his South American Nagual lineage, well known from the writings of Carlos Castaneda, who was his student in the 1960ies and 1970ies. Castaneda used few words to describe people like Don Huan, calling them sorcerers, shamans, warriors or Naguals. Nagual is a person with direct, permanent and deep connection with the deepest and mysterious parts of Reality and inner awareness; he is the Master of life and death and even dreaming. He has huge amounts of energy at his disposal, so he can easily influence other people or his direct students by expanding their consciousness, awareness and perception, removing negative and problematic thought processes and emotions and finally lead them to the great Awakening. It is very hard to explain what Nagual is, because it is like a perfect void without any definitions of personality, but capable of becoming anything it wants; words like infinity, non-duality, non-locality and Unborn are his everyday companions. Taoist concept of Tao can be seen as a source of whole Reality or the Reality itself, so we can see Nagual as a person capable of being and living a Tao with no problems at all.

Don Huan was a true Nagual leader and he always insisted on practice and not on theory, although he had many great theories and models that could easily explain many phenomena experienced in practice. Don Huan was great Master, capable of using hidden potentials of human Mind and energies at ease, but he was also very humble and like a little kid, knowing that the mysteries of life are very hard to explain, but very easy to implement if you know what you are doing and have strong will and intent. Castaneda, as his student, had great problems trying to use his logical mind to explain all these experiences that he had with Don Huan, but still he managed to test many things in practice and to prove to himself that they are true. One of these things is the practice of emotional recapitulation. It is a practical method of clearing the subconscious mind to find negative personality traits and sorcerers dedicated most of their time to it.

Recapitulation is also great and effective for modern man as it was for the people in South American past and anybody can do it. It is a technique for erasing the idea of false personality and discovering the real Self, by means of recollecting memories and connections with people and experiences from the past and releasing emotional and energetic blockages that are trapped in them. Essentially it is an idea about energy preservation. Human beings have limited energy potential and most of this potential is trapped in an unresolved conflicts that we had with other people in the past. Things like emotional traumas and negative experiences create one big minefield in our Mind, surrounded mostly by heavy emotions like hate, envy or fear. The strategy of Nagual warrior is to restore these energies so that he can use it in a present moment, to restart it from zero at any time and to recover their totality of being. What the old sorcerers from South America discovered, was that past is not actually gone, it is still happening in our sub consciousness, still taking our energy and attention or at least hurting our body and emotional life, but a practitioner can directly return into the problematic situation from the past and live it again, but with total awareness of every energy investment that his body and mind made during that moment.

It is easy, since we all know very well what are our memories that bring fear and other unpleasant feelings to us. For example, if I am sitting at my home with my eyes closed and if by visualizing and recollecting some traumatic events from the past, including all sounds, smells, pictures and feelings associated with them, I still feel twitching inside, faster heartbeats, twitching in and between eyes, or any reaction from the body and mind that is not pure stillness, that means I am still emotionally connected to these events. And these events are nothing but combinations of some forms that we got as input from our five senses and then associated various emotions to them, further causing the brain to produce many chemicals and attach them to these memories. So, even that it happened in the past, it is still present today and it is like a burden that steals our limited energy potential.

First thing to do is to make a list of all people that we have ever met, communicated with, worked with or had any important emotional and especially sexual connections for the whole life. It is a mental preparation. Some practitioners even like to make their own recapitulation boxes so they can hide themselves in dungeons, caves or in some similar places in order to reduce distractions from the outer world and to turn totally inwards. It is not necessary to write down a list of all the events from the past, but the most emotionally intense ones. After we restore energy from them, then we can make a new list with events that are less intense and so on, uncovering layer by layer of our personality made of energetic and light fibres, as Don Huan explained. Of course, you can invoke these memories without the list, but it is better to make a list when you are just beginning with this practice. Here are the steps that you can try to make one good recapitulation practice:

    1. Take some relaxed position at your home, like in the bed or couch. You can lay down on back or take a lotus position well known from the meditation traditions from the East like Yoga or Buddhism. Head should be relaxed and also the arms, legs, heart, lungs etc. It is important to take a position where you can inhale and exhale really deep,

    2. You can keep your hands relaxed on your stomach if you are laying on your back in the bed or below the stomach if you are in lotus position,

    3. The eyes should be closed all the time, because we need to activate the inner Eye in order to observe energetic fluctuations from the sub-consciousness. In the beginning, it is important to relax and to try to feel every part of your body. Every part. To feel it vibrate in a relaxed way, including heartbeats and breathing, until mind also becomes relaxed, with no thoughts, something similar to alpha waves of the brain. The main goal is to feel the state of our body and mind when there is nothing to disturb them,

    4. Now it is time to allow the hidden thoughts and emotions to arise. You can force the events that you have put in the list or just wait for the first one in line to appear, because all these objects and impulses hidden in memory have kinetic energy associated with them that can become potential and active energy at any moment and just manifest itself. It is important to understand that you are only the observer of your thoughts, emotions and events, and that you should feel no fear, because they are something that is not you. You should not block anything. Then, one traumatic event can pop up. Suddenly, you are back in the past! This one event can trigger many reactions from your body and mind, many emotions and thoughts, like a chain reaction inside a minefield.

You will soon see some hidden reactions in you, like there was some insane alter ego inside of you who didn’t have a chance to react in the past, but he wanted to, so you blocked him back then, but that blocked reaction was stored somewhere inside your Mind and, voila, here it comes up again, but now in a present time. You will be surprised how many similar energetic structures were created during any intense event in the past. It is like a horde of animal instincts that wanted to say something, but one part of you, you can call it a super Ego or some kind of logical mind, didn’t allow that horde to manifest itself. But although it didn’t manifest itself, it created many impulses that are still active inside of you, waiting for a chance to take your body, mind and will. And these impulses need your energy in order to live. So, they took it from you and nobody informed you about that. Now, you should help these parts, accept them, give them temporary life and
