    Sondra Markstone felt a shiver creep up her spine, and watched as goose bumps popped out on her arms.  The purple petunia she had been ready to place in the hole of deep, dark, soil slipped out of her shaking hands.  Who’s there?  She asked with breathless anticipation as she twisted around on one knee to look behind her.

    The empty drive way stared back at her and she inhaled a deep, shaky breath.  Still, the feeling that she was being watched grated on her nerves.  Pushing to her feet, she glanced to her yard on the left.  The cherry trees were in full bloom, contrasting sharply with the thick green, freshly cut grass encircling their trunks, and the canopy of dark blue sky above.  To her right, the old maple hung heavy with dark green leaves swaying gently in the spring breeze.

    You’re being silly, she admonished herself, and bent down to finish planting the petunia.  As she patted the last of the rich earth around the roots of the flower, she gathered the empty flower trays; spade and water can and put them in the garage just as the phone rang.

    Sondra ran up the stairs.  She hoped it was Ted calling to say he would be home soon.  She still had the creepy feeling that someone was watching her.  It wasn’t the first time in the past few days that she had felt that way either.  She ran to her kitchen table and answered on the fifth ring.  Hello?

    Hey, Darlin’.  How’s my girl doing?"

    Ted!  When will you be home?  She heard the truck’s air brakes and knew he was coming to a stop.  She smiled as she thought of him sitting behind the wheel of his eighteen-wheeler.  Her truckin’ cowboy, she always called him.  They had been married a little over eight months, and she missed him terribly when
