Before getting started, let’s review a few notes …

*This work mostly uses British spelling, except for the quoted material, which mainly employs U.S. spelling.

*The terms LORD, GOD, and Hashem are all ways to describe the personal name of God, also rendered as Yahweh or Jehovah.

*The ALT3 distinguishes between singular and plural second-person pronouns by means of an asterisk (*).

*Divine pronouns are normally not capitalized, unless they appear that way in Bible versions or other quotes.

*As a general rule, words that appear in brackets within quotes are not found in the original texts, and were added by the translators or are my personal comments, etc.

    I. Introduction

Then God said, Let there be light; and there was light. God saw that the light was good; and God separated the light from the darkness. -- Genesis 1:3-4

God brought forth both chaos and light at the beginning of the world. This has been his way ever since. Our lives are often racked with pain and depression, yet he holds forth his Word as a beacon of hope.

Moreover, the two advents of the Lord Jesus Christ also can be described in terms of darkness and light. When he came the first time, he preached the truth and gave himself up for our sins, inaugurating the New Covenant unto eternal life, offering us a bright hope. However, before his second advent, he will intentionally form a chaotic earth again, bringing to pass the period of tribulation which is described in the book of Revelation. He will cause many calamities to come for the sake of judgment; yet it will also be an era when many will discover the dawn of his dictates and cling to them.

Thus, as it began—so it shall end.

The Bible is fully deserving of our confidence. It is a stunning collection of writings which contain many proofs of divine authorship. Prophecy is perhaps the most poignant evidence of God’s hand, yet that classification doesn’t capture the full supernatural splendour of Holy Writ. The most incredible thing about the Bible is that it tells a complete, homogenized narrative of history, from the very beginning until the very end. When you study a large unit from even one its ancient documents in detail, you can
