    Preface

Revelation of Jesus Christ has become a book of wonder and mystery for many over the centuries. However, it was not always so. The early church recipients had understood the content of the book which had been written to them. Its symbols had been familiar to them: those who had moved out from Judaism to become the people of The Way (see, Acts 9:2). The book had been a source of encouragement and comfort to those who had been experiencing tremendous persecution in terms of their faith in the Messiah, Jesus Christ.

Revelation of Jesus Christ has gotten the attention of many critics and opportunists over the centuries. It is the object of many writings, false teachings and movie productions. The church of our present era has lost its understanding of the principles of interpretation known as hermeneutics. Hence, interpretations are rendered in terms of unfounded human reasoning.

It is not impossible to regain an accurate understanding of this final writing comprised in the Holy Scriptures. It behooves its readers to study and learn correct principles of interpretation. Foremost, no prophecy of Scripture is to be interpreted by an individual on his own…(said Peter in 2 Peter 1:20 CJB), that is, Scripture interprets Scripture. Secondly, the reader must understand that the book is an allegory as is expressed in chapter one and verse one by the word signified. Its symbols had been indicative of those things which were ready to occur (– now; i.e. specific past historical events); moreover, in their general principles, those things which would occur after the First Century A.D. All prophecies in the Scriptures, had become fulfilled (see, Luke 21:22). This culmination of events had been witnessed at the destruction of Jerusalem in A.D.70 or the End of the Days (of the Old Covenant era)!

This study guide is not exhaustive in its evidence. It has been written to offer the student of the Scriptures a beginning point whereby s/he may further explore the message of the book as it had been entrusted to John the apostle. If the student is to be of noble character as the Bereans, recorded in Acts 17:11, the student will need to be equipped with essential study tools. These tools will be of the nature of language studies: the student must have a working knowledge of the original languages; and, resources and reference materials, such as: analytical concordances, lexicons, dictionaries, historical books, credible commentaries, et cetera. Warning: know them who labour among you (1 Thessalonians 5:12).

The Study of Revelation of Jesus Christ is an exciting and rewarding venture. ‘Felicitous are the lectors and the auditors; preferentially, the practitioners regarding the requisites concealed in the transcript. The time is at the door (KBV, Ken Besler Version).’
