In-Flight Delight - Francesca St. Claire

    Chapter 1

The business-class passenger in seat 4A had his eyes glued to his laptop screen. He’d arrived while I was busy doing the last check on supplies. I’d missed the welcome greeting, but Tess’ appraisal of the hottie had piqued my interest. So here I was, satisfying my curiosity under a professional disguise.

Sir, what would you like to drink? A few moments elapsed without a response. Assuming he hadn’t heard me, I cleared my throat and tried again. Sir—

Just an orange juice…please, he said dismissively without lifting his gaze.

    Nice, asshole!

Right, I said, reluctantly acquiescing to his request. But when I placed his drink down with a little more force than planned, causing the liquid to slosh in the glass, I smiled inwardly. A burst of temper or a scolding wasn’t becoming in my position, but petty revenge helped sooth my bruised ego.

His dark head slowly lifted ’til our gazes locked.

    Oh, hello, handsome!

Rude he might be, but there was nothing wrong with his looks. In any other circumstance, I might have been tempted to put the moves on him. Here on the plane? Not a chance. Such bad luck meeting him when my hands were tied.

Listen to you, Miss Prickly, so often solicited but never agreeable!

That was true. Five years on the job, and I’d never been tempted to hand out my phone number as some of my colleagues had done. I’d never been interested in one-night stands, full commitment being more my thing. Though going by the disastrous results of past relationships, maybe it was high time I tried something different. He certainly was handsome…and cocksure…two very common traits in the men I usually dated. I winced at the shallowness of my criteria when choosing a partner.

    I’ve changed.

That would remain to be seen…though the present attraction didn’t foster much hope for the future.

But who could blame me? He was hot—tall, with limbs stretching on forever under his charcoal-gray suit, hands so big I couldn’t help making the correlation to the length of his cock. If the saying was true, he was one well-endowed guy. My gaze moved up and came to rest on a chest that begged for a moment or two of silent prayer. This man didn’t even need to be handsome. But he was that, too. An arresting male face complete with high cheekbones, a strong chin, and dark eyebrows and lashes. Man! He was the complete package. Lust speared through me as I stood openly studying him, slow to notice the raised eyebrows and the amusement on his face.

Oh, right, I mumbled, flustered by my total lack of discretion and professionalism, though he’d returned the favor by staring back at me, seemingly without an ounce of guilt or the slightest intention to apologize.

    Oh, hell.

Flashing my most professional smile, I asked, Have you decided yet on tonight’s menu?

Yes. I’ll have the veal sweetbreads-stuffed ravioli.

Huh? Had I looked at the wrong menu? No, I was sure I hadn’t. I’m afraid that’s not on the menu. Could I interest you in the roasted chicken with lemon and thyme jus, instead?

Sorry, I have my heart set on sweetbreads and Barolo red at Mama Mia’s. His lips curved slightly, and a twinkle shone in his eyes. I’m also intent on sharing it with you.

Handsome and cocksure. If ever such a man was in a one-hundred-mile radius, I was sure to attract him. No surprises there, but the new me was done with this kind of alpha male. I lifted my chin.

    Really?

Yes, he said, his eyes fastened on mine. I hope you won’t disappoint me by saying you’re already committed.

I couldn’t help the jolt of lust his assertiveness provoked in me.

    Why not?

Why not? Well, for a start, I could be fired for dating a passenger.

    Who would know?

Probably nobody but me, though the unethical issue remained.

Look, he doesn’t have a ring on his left hand…he’s hot…and he wants you.

And I wanted him. Man, did I want him. Fourteen months since I last had sex, three since my last date, but who was counting? I was—every day. No amount of physical exercise, meditation, or masturbation did the trick these days. I missed a man’s body against mine…and I missed kissing.

    I bet he’s a good kisser.

As a rule, I had no problem giving the brush-off, more or less gently, depending on my humor or the guy’s ego. In this particular case, there would be the added satisfaction of downsizing
