About this ebook
What happens when an overachieving psychologist with OCD tendencies and an impulsive, out-of-work actress start a fake relationship?
Claire Renshaw thought she had it all: a successful career as a couples therapist, a publishing contract for her self-help book, and a happy relationship. But her perfect world falls apart when her fiancée calls off their engagement. Because of that, even her book deal might be off the table. After all, readers don’t want relationship advice from someone who can’t even make her own relationship work.
So Claire sets out to hire herself a fake fiancée.
Lana Henderson, the actress who shows up to audition for the role, is not exactly Claire’s ideal woman. Her frankness and the messes she leaves everywhere drive Claire up the wall. At least she won’t fall in love with someone like Lana.
But soon, Lana starts to win her over with her big heart, tickle fights, and—gasp!—carbs after six. The longer they pretend to be a love-struck couple, the less fake their kisses feel and the more the lines between reality and role begin to blur.
Once the book contract is signed, will they walk away or is their relationship no longer just for show?
A lesbian romance where role-playing has never been so irresistible.

- Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I loved Claire and Lana. I especially loved Claire and Lana together. Mostly I loved Lana. But Claire got in there by mid-book.
Stuff I loved: humor, chemistry, the strangers to true love thing, Claire's family, all the good squishy feels that the growing relationship gave me.
Stuff I didn't love: cameos from many characters appearing in the Hollywood series.
I loved lots more than I didn't love. And I'll likely read it again.
Would rate it 4.5 if I could but dropped it down because of the cameos that rubbed me the wrong way. - Rating: 4 out of 5 stars4/5I enjoyed this more than Jae's other books of late. It ticks some boxes that are usually fun to read: ice queen, fake romance setup, opposites attract, slow burn. And thankfully it's absent of the late break up trope and instalove.
I particularly preferred Lana's character especially because she was straight forward and I liked seeing Lana and Claire share their thoughts and feelings. Strangely enough, that's not something we often see in our romance books. There were several cute moments in the story and I kept reading and wanted to find out how it would all get resolved. Towards the end there's definitely an angsty vibe, first for them to get together and then how will they stay together?
Like many romances in this genre, at least one of the characters is very well off and model beautiful. Lana, at least, is a counter having imperfections and a little weight on her.
I wouldn't call this a perfect book but the read is a pleasant and solid romance. For me, Jae's last batch of books have a paint by numbers feel. This one, though, had just enough falling outside the lines to make it worthwhile.
3.85 - Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5This book was delightful. It was funny and engaging, an exciting page turner.
