About this ebook
This is a book with the best poems selected from the Tang Dynasty in Chinese. As we know it well, Du Fu is one of the best poets in the Tang Dynasty. This book has selected some of the best poetic works of Du Fu. After prudentially reviewing the available English translation on Internet, I am confident my English translation is one the best. Hopefully, you can enjoy my translation and understand much more about Chinese ancient poems, the best part of divergent Chinese cultures.

The Poems of Du Fu (杜甫詩選) - You-Sheng Chen
Author: Du Fu
Oh! The Mount Taishan, how magnificent are you?
You are tall and greenish straightly across the regions in Qi and Lu.
The creator makes you gifted with magnificence and fantasy.
Your splendidly tall body separating both the North and South into light and shade.
Upon seeing countless layers of clouds rising, my mind is widely opened.
When seeing far away broadly, homeward birds are in my sight.
One day I will climb on the top,
Seeing the view with all the other mountains right beneath you.
《贈衛八處士》 / 《To the Recluse Man, Mr. Wei》
Author: Du Fu
Sincere friends rarely reunite in a lifetime.
Like two stars, Chen and Shang, respectively appear in the morning and evening hours but miss mutually.
What night is tonight?
So lucky it is! We can share this candlelight together.
How long can our youth spare?
Our hair has become gray respectively.
Half of the old acquaintances I visited have passed away already.
I cry amazedly and excitedly when hearing from you.
Suddenly years have gone by. Again I can visit you. You were unmarried when we left apart.
But now there have been several children surrounding you.
They respectfully ask about the friend of their father Where I come from?
Before I answer completely,
The father has commanded children to have a wine feast well ready.
The spring leek is cut during rainy nights.
Freshly cooked yellow beams are mixed with delicious rice.
You said this is a rare opportunity to meet together,
Drinking a row of ten cups one after another.
I also drink wine a row of ten cups since it is a rare opportunity to get drunk.
Extend my gratitude for your long friendship with me.
After tomorrow, we will be blocked by mountains again.
Between us, everything ahead will be blindly bewildered.
《佳人》/ 《A Beauty》
Author: Du Fu
An unparalleled beauty lives in a valley distantly away from
