Nigel woke up cold and stiff.  Cold, stiff, and in some pain.  The weals which Virginia Forbes had raised the previous evening still smarted painfully.  He rubbed his eyes.   It was just so hard to believe.  A few days before, he had been an employee of Ms Forbes company, Forbes & Parker.  And now he was her 'slave', as she put it, held as a naked captive in a wooden shack on the grounds of her country home.  He had to admit he'd been in the wrong.
