The Scientist - Nicholas Clark
Prologue
Another flash of light . His eyes had been watery from the previous flashes, but he couldn't close his eyes. God knows what the people would do to him if he closed his eyes. He did not know how or when he got there. His body had been numb from the cold, the thin hospital gown he was wearing did not help any. Strapped to a mechanical chair with multiple belts and latches, he was being tortured – at least that's what he thought was happening. He had been subject to intense bodily and mental pain during the past few hours – and with no explanation whatsoever. Oh god, please make it stop. The men in white watching from behind the glass only spoke to him whenever he was about to pass out.
Subject H seems to be getting tired. Administer health and attention boosters.
The monotonous voiced droned from a speaker he couldn't see.
A door opened from behind him. He had been staring at an empty wall in front of him ever since he awoke. The only thing weird was the two small yet techy monoliths at the end of the wall. They had these wires connected to each other and the chair. He didn't know what it was or what it does but when the monoliths project light to one another, he will always feel pain. Here they go again. Several heavy footsteps slowly made their way towards him. He wanted to scream. To escape and hide from these people but he knew the futility of the idea.
Four figures came into his view. Each was wearing a white hazmat suit bearing a logo different from the radioactive logo that it was meant to repel. He couldn't recognize it even if he tried, but it looked like a logo for a scientific company or corporation. However, no matter how much he tried to remember, there was no company or corporation that had that logo that he knew of.
The two started to unpack a small suitcase. And with it he saw a plethora of syringes and vials having different colors. He knew all too well what those are. The red ones are for when he had a cut or something bleeding. The green and blue was food and refreshments. The violet was for when he was being sleepy or tired. One of them took a syringe along with the green and blue vial. He methodically extracted an amount from the vial to the syringe. The other one did the same, albeit with the violet vial.
With the two ready to inject him with nourishments
the other two had been holding his arm down. Although his body was aching all over, he still struggled. He doesn't want to imbibe that sort of nourishment through a syringe. He wanted to eat and sleep normally – not be injected with these boosters. But the strength of the two personnel overwhelmed him, they kept his arms from moving too much – making the injection faster than it had to be.
Thank you. Now please, vacate the room immediately. We are pressed for time, gentlemen.
After removing the syringes haphazardly, the men returned it to their suitcase. They then used a swab of cotton for the wound that they had made. After packing up, they left with heavy footsteps once more. Closing the door, the room became quieter. Why doesn't it end?
Now that you are, I assume, replenished, let's continue, shall we? The future of mankind –,
the voice snickered, – awaits us all.
With that, a slow but steady stream of light came from the two monoliths. In turn, the feeling of being electrocuted slowly climbed from his feet to his head. Being used to the small shock, he endured it. It will be hours of this again. However, to his surprise, he was able to see light and images slowly form. He was shocked, it was the first time that it had happened. However, it was also the last time that he saw it.
Within seconds of seeing the images form from the light, the electric current that had been flowing through his body had a sudden spike in quantity. Being unable to contain it, the body that was Subject H, popped. Like a balloon that burst, the room was then littered with the entrails of Subject H. Although that might have cause normal people to be disheartened, the
