About this ebook

Betrayal can truly become the epitome of any friendship and it can also become the failure of someone's trust if one person allows another person with an opportunity to step in and try to divide them.

Money and greed will always become the part of any conclusion or it can be the reason for a person to defuse a battle and reconcile their friendship, along with a few of the other sustainable differences.

After being alone in prison for more than ten years, Cherry had grown to understand herself, along with an opportunity to redefine herself and understand the true definition of friendship. Desperate to have another chance at freedom, Cherry had thought about switching over and working with the feds.

No matter what we go through in life, some of us will never truly understand, or ever come to learn the definition of living. Mali was arrogant, conceited and all of the above. Mali was only into himself, and he was his main and only focus and concern. Without a care in the world Mali was living life, and he was living his life Scott free and without the woman that he had once considered as his wife.

Once we can regain our focus on ourselves, we can then come to learn that life comes with an abundance of opportunities. Living your dream will always seem as if it's extremely far, however, Shay had shown her entire community that dreaming is believing if you push yourself hard enough into whatever it is that you had chosen to do. Not only did Shay now have the money, but she also had the power and the respect that had come along with her new opportunity.

    Incarceration

3421967, a tall male masculine voice had bellowed out over the prison foyers, while calling out random prison numbers.

The morning guard was making his way through the prison tears doing his early morning head count, when he had yelled out inmate numbers that morning giving no one, in particular, any eye contact. On this morning, the guard was in a rush.  And he didn't have time to chat with any of the girls, as he would usually do. Nor did the guard have time to properly check up on any of them that morning to assure that their safety or well being was in good standing from the night before like he should have done.

On game day, all of the morning guards regular routines had gone straight out of the door. There where big bets being placed throughout the prison with all of the other correctional officers.

The women that were being housed in the federal institution had referred to the correctional officers as CO's, short for correctional officer.

On game day the co's would place bets with each other for extra comp time.  They would bet there PTO, as well as their vacation time and sick leave.

This morning the guards had a college basketball game to attend to from their watchtower television sets. The morning guard on duty made it his intentions and a point to go out of his way and let the women know that he did not want to be bothered while he was on duty.

Although the CO was supposed to be standing guard, and assuring the woman's health and safety that morning while on his shift.  He had better things to do instead, like watching the college basketball game.

Earlier in the month, he had placed a bet with a few of his coworkers, to triple his vacation time.  This had allowed the CO two and a half months off from work, to work on his writing career.  Unbeknownst to any of the other guards in the prison, the morning CO was the famous up and coming urban author known as the Legend.

The Legend had become famous as an author from his first book, and now he was at a point in his life where he wanted to do bigger and better things with his writing.  The Legend was ambitious, and he wanted to further his writing career into screenplays.  However, he needed the additional time off from work to prepare for his second book, so that he could focus on just that. Between his work schedule and everyday living, The Legend hardly had any personal time to himself to fulfill his dreams and wishes.

The Legend had figured to himself that if he worked twice as hard on his second book then he had done on his first book, it would be bigger and better. He had come to further figure to himself, that once he had made his second book more popular than the first, he would then finally be able to quit his job and live a mild stress-free life.

The Legend had always felt from the start of his career as a prison CO, that he to was an inmate doing time with ampule amount of freedom for himself. The only reason that he had taken the job in the first place was for the extra money that he could make from the inmates inside of the prison.

The Legend had always wanted to be the opposite of his older brother, although his big brother was financially stable and flashy with cars and women the Legend, on the other hand, was completely different.

The Legend had wanted the opposite out of his life, and he had wanted to earn his living as what he considered to be the right white way of successful living.  Although he had busted a few extra moves from inside of the prison from time to time in order to make extra money, he had never thought of it as putting himself into any serious trouble.

All that the CO was concerned with that morning was getting through his eight-hour shift without having to write up any incident reports before his shift had ended.  The Legend was so focused on having a legit career until he refused to build his empire on fraud and greed as his older brother had done.

Legend had known that every greedy hustler ended up right there with him being babysat for the rest of his and their career. For this reason, Legend had refused to get himself caught up in the same prison system that he had worked so hard for.

Cherry was in her cell just waking up when she had begun to stretch out both of her arms from within the comfort of her prison bed.  Although Cherry's cell was reasonably small, she had grown to become accustomed to her new lifestyle.

Cherry had refused to feel caged in from within her prison cell, and she had tried her best to make her cell feel as comfortable as possible since it had now become her new home. Cherry had refused to settle for anything less, nor did she want to become a statistic within the prison population and system.

Cherry had learned from being incarcerated in the county jail for two years straight while going back and forward to trail that prison was no joke and that it was completely different.  When Cherry was being transferred to the feds from the county jail system, she had then learned that her word of mouth was all that she had for pawn.

Cherry had known that a lot of the inmates in prison didn't have anything to lose, nor they did they have anything to gain.  Cherry had learned that an inmate with life would do anything to manipulate you and keep you incarcerated with them for additional company inside of the prison system.

Cherry knew from experience and having to deal with folks from the hood in and out of jail, that if you came to prison with a hard ass criminal mentality and prison attitude most likely, you were going to remain in prison with that same rude ass hard-ass attitude.

Cherry had figured to herself that if she was going to serve a twenty-year sentence in a federal prison institution,  she minus well had made the best out of it.

Cherry had refused to allow herself to become institutionalized due to being locked up in prison, as well as resisting on becoming accustomed to the prison system.

It was from within Cherry's small cell that she had taught herself how to gain self-control and self-discipline. She had known of who and what to stay away from without having to be told.

Cherry had refused on losing her chances of getting an appeal on her sentence due to some bullshit; she had made sure to stay clear of drama and away from prison politics.

Cherry was more interested in learning how to finesse the CO's and how to wiggle her way out of any situation that she may have been caught up in.

Once Cherry had got up from bed that morning she had noticed that the guard was zooming past her cell halfway doing his morning count. Cherry was up that morning preparing for her morning shower when she had seen the CO being nonchalant with his usual routine.

Cherry had decided on watching the CO that morning before heading towards the shower. The guard had continued to zip through the towers, half-ass completing his count and yelling out random inmate numbers, as he made his way to the guard's towers and began to settle in and watch the game, and keep a soft eye on the girls for the rest of his shift.

Once Cherry had noticed that the guard made his way over to the tower, and was halfheartedly doing his job she had quickly gathered up the rest of her things and made her way towards the showers after first watching the CO closely. Cherry's brain had jumped into gear before her body was able to move.  Cherry had assured herself that today was going to be a kickback day, with know CO looking over her shoulders that morning.

Cherry had been locked up for seven years too long, and in her eyes, she had felt as if she had done nothing wrong.  Cherry had blamed Mali for her federal prison sentence.  She had felt that with all of the money that she had placed upon Mali's hand, the least he could have done was support her, and paid for her a lawyer. Cherry had also figured that Mali could of at least sent someone on his behalf to show up for her in court when she was being sentenced.

Instead, Mali had done the total opposite, he hadn't sent anyone to touch basis with Cherry, nor had he send her a dime.  Mali had acted as if Cherry had no longer existed, far as Mali was concerned,  Cherry was the last thing that was on his mind.

Cherry would get upset with herself whenever she thought about how Mali had left her to hang for dead with the criminal system.  She had grown to hate him more and more every day that she was incarcerated in federal prison.

Once Cherry had found out that Mali didn't have the decadence to attend her grandmothers funeral on her behalf, while she was in prison, Cherry had become devastated and furious with him. Mali hadn't even offered, or bother to help pay for any of Cherry's grandmothers funeral expenses.

Once Cherry was sentenced for her fraud case, she had cut off all ties with the outside world.  Cherry had felt that there was no need to contact anyone on the outside since she had lost her grandmother and her trust for Mali.

Cherry had felt that there was no need to put herself through stress or false communications and fake well wishes. Cherry had known from experience around the hood that once you went off to jail our prison, it was out of sight out of mind.

The last thing that Cherry was going to do was place self-pity and blame upon herself; she had refused to wait for anyone to place money on her books. Cherry had become very familiar with knowing how to play it safe and not to accept anything from any of the other inmates when it had come to handouts, our suggestions while she was locked up in prison.

Cherry was serving her time alone, and not only did she lose her grandmother and Mali, but she had also lost her only true best friend. Although Shay had tried to reach out to her from time to time, Cherry would still refuse Shay's mail by sending it back to her.

Cherry had become a full-time hustler, and prison had sent her straight into beast mode. Cherry had figured if she was going to serve a twenty-year federal prison sentence, she was going to hustle from the inside until her money was right, in order for her to get a lawyer to work towards her appeal.

Cherry hadn't worked on her education like most of the other women had done while in prison. Instead, she worked on bettering herself as a woman, by teaching herself how to gain self-control and respect along with self-discipline.

Cherry had learned from an older inmate, that self-control was the best control. Cherry had learned that if she couldn't control herself, how could she control anyone else.

Cherry had come to learn that every hustle should be strategic and private, and every man had no right of knowing how you ate, or your every move.

Cherry had learned that in order to become a proper and successful hustler, she first had to better herself with knowledge of the hustle that she had to choose.

If you were going to commit white collar crime, assure yourself that it's lucrative, and assure yourself that its worth it.  Cherry could hear the older inmate telling her these words as she replayed her voice in the back of her head. Cherry could hear the older inmate telling her, Who sits in a federal prison stressed out.

This here is the big house baby, the best prison system there is. This here is for the big dogs with real money baby. They should have sent your little young, stupid ass upstate. One thing I can tell you for sure, the reason you're stressed out in here is because your sitting in the feds and you don't get no money, you don't got shit!

Cherry reminded herself every morning as motivation to what the older inmates had said to her.  Cherry, if I were you I would be stressed out of the game too, I mean look at it this way Cherry baby. She continued to reminisce.

You're doing damn near a century of your life in here for a nigga that disappeared on you and didn't even have the decency to leave you a dime. And to top it off, did I fail to mention to you, that you don't have shit to go home to once you do end up getting out of here. Cherry reminded herself while sitting in her cell.

With everything that Cherry learned from the older women in prison, she had begun to realize that if she would of better educated herself on the crimes that she was out committing for Mali at that time, then she wouldn't be in the situation that she was currently in. Cherry had begun to notice that most of the people with real money in the feds, had sat back and chilled like they were on spring break or summer vacation.

Cherry had told herself that very day, which if she were to ever have the chance at her freedom again she would never step foot back into the feds on account of someone else benefit our bullshit.

Cherry didn't take her incarceration as discipline. Instead, she gained better knowledge of the prison system and had learned how to finesse and fidangle her way to the top.  Cherry had already known that her word of mouth, was everything and if she slipped up on her word it could also cause her to lose her life as well. Although Cherry had felt betrayed and belittled by Mali and what he had done to her, it had motivated her into hustling ten times harder towards her appeal to show him that she didn't need him or anyone else for anything.

Cherry, yo Cherry baby.  A Caucasian woman had yelled out from across the prison yard towards Cherry who was standing from a distance within a crowd. The woman was trying desperately to get Cherry's attention from the other side of the prison field.

Cherry was on the opposite side of the yard hanging out during free time with a few of the other inmates when the woman was yelling and screaming out her name. One of the inmates on the yard that was with Cherry that afternoon had noticed the woman yelling for her on the other side of the yard, and had grasped Cherry attention.

Aye yo Cherry, that white bitch over there yelling your name out and shit like she done lost her mother fucking mind.  The inmate had turned to tell Cherry.  Cherry had turned to see who was calling her name from the other side of the yard, as she squinted her eyes down low underneath the shade of her hand to block out the glare of the sun, to see if she could notice and get a better view of who it is. I can't see who the fuck that is from over here. Cherry had stated to no one in particular.

Cherry had then decided on walking over towards where the woman was now standing in the middle of the yard, in order for her to get a better glimpse of who she was. Once Cherry was a little closer to the woman, she had noticed that it was her Caucasian friend Snowflake.

Cherry had known the Caucasian woman that everyone had referred to as Snowflake from doing time together while currently in prison.  None of the other inmates took kindly to Snowflake, due to her meth habit, or because she was always scamming and scheming in someone else business.

Snowflake and Cherry had somehow become friends over the years due to snowflakes heavy
