Beckoned from a beach

gathered from the edges

hauled from despair

lifted into relationship

bought for a price.

Chosen before and for all time,

a dream of the divine,

misfits and prophets

the raw and naive

the faithful and the fickle.

Love the only choice.

Morning Prayer

Here I am, Lord.

Is it I, Lord?

Am I the one You have chosen

to be Your messenger of love today?

To be the witness of Your grace?

To be Your hands and feet and voice

In a careless, stumbling, noisy world?

Do I have a choice?

I will go, Lord,

If You really need me

for I know that You hold me in Your heart.
